This tournament, that started in 1968, is for the first time ever not an opposite field event on the PGA Tour. It's been played opposite The Masters, The British Open, The Ryder Cup, The President's Cup, The Tour Championship and what is now the WGC Mexico.

FedEX Cup Points: the full 500
A win DOES get you into the 2020 Masters
Purse: $6,600,000 an increase of 50% from last year's $4,400,000. Winner gets $1,180,000.
Course: Country Club of Jackson a par 72 of 7421 yards
Defending Champ: Cameron Champ (winning in his second start as a member of the PGA Tour)

Field: https://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/sanderson-farms-championship/field.html

In the field (at press time)
last week's winner and world #50 Joaquin Niemann
Byeong Hun An at #48 is the highest ranked player here
Sungjae Im is #54 and the only player from last year's Tour Championship in the field
17 year old Akshay Bhatia makes his pro debut
Jimmy Walker
Zach Johnson
Jason Dufner

OWGR
Despite being a full field event it looks to be a tour minimum 24 points to the winner.

i usually prefer sanderson farm chicken products from the store ... i like em when they're natural ...

was actually hoping this would've been later in the fall since i can drive over in 2 1/2 hours ... don't have much desire to go out to jackson in 95 degree heat, however ...

OWGR SoF is 106 and first place points are 26.
That puts it ahead of the John Deere Classic and RSM Classic from 2018-19.
Last year's totals were 25/24 as an opposite field event.

Scheffler and Shelton will be in the top 5, much like last week.
Look out for Lanto Griffin, been playing great for the last couple of weeks through KF Finals

I've been too busy lately to watch golf or anything else, for that matter. I'll give this tournament a look see. I haven't seen Akshay play yet; looking forward to seeing his game.

Easy pass for this one, top player in the field world ranking 48. If this was a Euro Tour event, it would be getting an absolutely bashing for having a weak field.

That player, Byeong Hun An, is the 2015 BMW PGA Champion. Why he's here instead of London, I have no idea.
If it were a European Tour event, it's SoF of 106 would rank it 11th out of 27 events played this year that aren't shared with the PGA Tour.

Nieman and Grillo should take advantage of the weak field.

    And An opens 66-66

Akshay Bhatia opens his pro career with 70-74 and a missed cut.
He'll be back next week at the Safeway Open.

The new cut rule strikes again as 68 make the cut at -3.
12 players at -2 missed out on the weekend.

Those 12 players should have played better. The PGA Tour players approved this rule change.

Exactly. There are going to be guys missing by 1 stroke regardless of the # who make the cut.
There's no reason that 80 players, over half the field, should be making the cut in any tournament.
With that said it's 90+ degrees and humid in Jackson since the tournament was moved up a month this year. I can understand why folks stayed away esp with no household names in the field.

This final round is pretty entertaining, at least the last hour. Im looking stronnnng, it’s just been a matter of time. He’s in the fairway on 18 as I write this.

Canadian glad to see Hearn T25, but sad all the others MC I think.

Sebastian Munoz will move up to near the top 100 with his first PGA Tour win.

As far as I can tell, this is the first time South American golfers have won in consecutive weeks on the PGA Tour.

This week's playoff ends the 38 weeks without a playoff streak that dated back to the 2019 RSM Classic last November.

Even better, on both occasions there would have been a MDF cut on Saurday night.

People will have axes to grind.
