WITB VJ Singh....2009’ish

Not 100% sure when these were all released but my boss has a set of VJ personal clubs. He let me hit them and they are pretty awesome.

Driver: HiBore with a bassara 83 gram x stiff shaft. It’s a tank. Super heavy and hard to turn over. Not the VJ ever wanted. Ball to go left.

3 wood: 13 degree Cleveland launcher Ti with the same shaft.

Irons: Cleveland cg1 irons. I loved these irons when they were out. With in my mind one of the best shafts ever.The apollo hump shafts! I wish these were still around. I looked forever to find some and never could.

Wedges: cg12 zip groove.

Grips: golf pride grip rite midsized with reminders.. awesome!!

Thanks for sharing that! Yeah Humps were a bit of a rage back in that time and a lot of people tried them, but many found they didn't like them. They were a bit weird.

They were. I admit that I am not 100% sure what the point of the hump was. But I liked them.

That 3 wood is a classic and lingered in many tour bags years after it was released.

I was never a big VJ fan, but I do love me some Cleveland. Hard to believe all of that stuff is now a decade old.

Those irons though.

They just don’t make woods like that anymore with basic crowns (fw) and full face scorelines. Something very nostalgic about it.

Didn’t he use only 8 iron shafts throughout the set? Or 5 iron? Regardless, super jealous! Thanks for sharing.

I don’t think so. Those shafts were iron specific. Each one is a little different.

Terrible sounding driver but delivered results......

Cleveland was so underrated from 2000 to 2008 or so. What a driver the Hibore XL Tour was

This may be different in some way. Sounded great! It was just the most tank driver I have ever swung. I have asked my boss to sell them to me more than once. So far the answer has been no.

Didn't VIjay used to have a 7 or 9 wood in the bag that was bent so open it was effectively a 4 or 5 wood?

yes, I know he played a high lofted fairway wood for a long time. I think it was a callaway 7 wood.

Yeah those irons were and are so nice. Extremely soft. I bet they rival most options we have now. Super soft.

Love these older WITB's thanks for sharing! Seemed like Vijay and Furyk used hump shafts up until the past few years.

If I remember correctly when apollo was closing up shop. One of them, Furyk I believe bought up all their remaining stock to have it on hand. That Shaft was soo awesome. Super stable. I am sure there is something out there that compares now. I just don't know what it is. They have such a good and unique feel. Its cool that my boss lets me swing them from time to time.

I owned a set of those same irons, made for Vijay as well but they had a Nippon prototype in em... Love his stuff... So anti left!

I had those same irons. They were nice. I still have a Launcher Titanium 3 wood in my bag, 15*, and it's still in my bag.

Vijay was definitely a weird cat when it came to specs. He's always been about trying something new to give him an edge. He used humps for a while (I tried one in a Nike Slingshot 3i....wasn't sure if it was the head or shaft but we never really got along and it felt a bit soft), then went to the E21 Scandium and used those for several years. I scoured the net for some E21s but they were always mega pricey and I saw a few very bipolar reviews on them so I never actually jumped on them. He used a STX putter for a few years and I think he's tweaked around with some of the Cure models. Back around that era he had the Hibore/Hibore XL/Hibore XLS with a whiteboard 83g X tipped some ungodly amount and the face was bent 5-6* open and with a Victory cord Rib built up to midsize...my dad briefly owned his driver or one of his demos that never saw play for about 2 weeks before he sold it with those exact specs. I am still salty about it. It would never get play but it was a cool thing to have, he even kicks himself periodically for doing so. He made $100. It wasn't about the money t was the cool factor. Now Vijay has moved onto the TPT stuff (at least last time I saw him). I loved seeing what he would put into play each week and I remember when he had that old Steelhead 7 or 9 wood in play the forums went nuts looking for one as a way for a guy to get a hybrid without playing a hybrid. I may or may not have bought a 7 and 9 wood around that time...for you know....unrelated reasons.
