It's an outstanding golf course. Very near our vacation home in Truckee. My wife and I played it 2 weeks ago, it is in fabulous condition.

If Matthias Schwab can get his putting going, he may be a dark horse.

Old Greenwood is a fun course, but not as good as its sister course Gray's Crossing. Fun course, but too bad it's next to the I-80.

Typically yes. The winner will get reduced fedex points (300) and no Masters invite though. The prize $ is typically considerable less then the average full field event too.

As already mentioned this year the top 2 finishers will also qualify for the US Open.

Can someone tell me if this is a Birdie fest course or will challenge the players. I hate to see the birdie fest tournaments.

Different folks, different strokes, I much prefer Old Greenwood over Gray's Crossing. Either way, it will be very interesting to see pros light it up.

It's stableford scoring so doesn't really apply in that sense. But, given it's an alternate event being held in Reno, I doubt it's going to be the Memorial or something.

It's a tough course for amateurs, but for pros I think they will score well, even with the large undulating greens baked out. It's 7400 yards at par 71, but it's at almost 6000ft and will be hot, so the ball is going to be flying. It's relatively generous off the tee, but if you do hit one wayward finding it in the underbrush is very tough, even more so with no fans.

Living in Reno I am a bit bummed I cant go watch. But still excited it is here. The field actually looks decent.

Interesting to see that they're playing #10 as a par 4, essentially from the back of the forward tees (maybe the front of the 2nd set). Great hole, tough green (essentially an island). It would have been a "gimme" par 5; as a par 4, not as many birdies .... big difference in Stableford.

Dylan and Shaun came up a little short of the cut.

Not at all.. Make a couple of doubles or worse (each -3 points) each round, struggle to make birdies (+2) and pars (0), throw in a couple of bogies (-1) and see ya. It's really just playing bad on tour like most weeks but scoring it differently. Stroke play or modified stableford scoring in a full field event over half the field is still going to miss the cut.

Pretty funny... my buddy and I were just saying yesterday that there’s no way with all the cameras rolling for 4 straight days with no spectators they don’t at least catch a bear or 2 rolling across the fairways. Typical Tahoe golf.

The guys seemed a little more dialed in with their wedges today. I’ve always found that around here wedges don’t really go much farther (like the longer clubs) they just seem to stay up longer and go higher.

Looking like the weather is going to be basically perfect going through the weekend. Played yesterday and today in the afternoon and had the typical 5-10 mph sustained winds which is standard this time of year. Tomorrow looks to be more of the same with Sunday possibly as the crap shoot for the guys going out later in the day. 10-15 sustained with gusts around 25 could make things a little interesting at the finish.

Saw some of the highlights this morning. The course looks incredible! Such a nice change from many of the bland, soulless PGA Tour stops. I wish they'd visit more places like this.
