I remember when I was 40...

This reminds me of the Cosnter line in Bull durham," When you are in the bigs and to have fungus on your shower shoes the media will call you colorful. In the minors it makes you a slob." If you win it might be cool. When you flame out in the last round it means you should spend more time on your golf game than your shoe game.

First him wearing **thongs** on social media and now this. The guy is just weird, and not in an fun eccentric way either - it's more of a "He's not allowed around our children" way.

Eh. Athletic activity? It’s a sport no doubt. And a sport I love. But. It’s not basketball or soccer. If you’re heart rate gets above a resting pace it’s because of pressure putts or you’re so far out of shape you ( not you personally ) can’t walk and are listed as morbidly obese on your doctors yearly exam. I’ve played most every sport you can name. Walking and carrying ( much less having a caddie ) on a golf course is the least taxing I can think of.

To put it into context. I’m a bit of a shoe lover myself. I’m on Stock X etc. but I’m a very mild fan. And I wear mine. A lot. Not one and back in the box and done etc. but this kind of crap is well beyond sneaker head and into wannabe territory. This is the kind of stuff people make a game out of. Sit around and say “ what kind of weird crap dan we get the lemmings to do this week. Oh I know. Let’s put a zip tie on our shoe and call it fashion “. And C and D list celebrities gobble it up.

To understand his shoes, you gotta understand recent "fashion" trends of 25-35 year old "men". In all honesty, you just have to understand what the guys at barstool sports are doing. They buy a lot of insanely expensive shoes, pair them with whatever, and it's "fashion". The only people I'm jealous of in this situation are the fashion brands that manage to sell shoes for $400+ to people who make less than 40k a year. I think expensive shoes are the new mid-age crisis aversion tactic.

That’s what I got from the article. About as blatant as can be. Somehow he’s oblivious to the irony.

I think I can help poor Brooks...

Brooks if you are reading this and if you would like to cure the condition that lead to this sort of thing, all you have to do is send $10,000 to my newly created gofundme account.

After about 20 -30 days and some deep thought, I think you will find that your gullibility has been cured!

They are swinging a club at 120mph, that's pretty athletic. As for the zip tie, Im not a fan but I also don't understand people constantly taking selfies. Either way I think selfies and zip ties are moronic but people getting bent out of shape about this is hilarious to me. What about Fowler growing the porn stash and a mullet? Looks absurd right? Where's the mullet outrage? haha

That's what's interesting.

If Rickie wore the zip tie, it would be cool.

Rickie just rolls, brah ; )

Look. We agree more than you think.

It’s not the zip tie. Like you said. Rickie could have done it and it would be fine. It’s the asshat attached to the zip tie. His flippant , down right making fun of his own fan base answers about it are what it’s about “ 40 year old white golf nerds “ are the guys paying most of his salary. Indirectly, but you get the point. He literally just called that demographic out , as if somehow he’s above that. Please. The zip tie isn’t the point. Or issue.

Exactly, Rickie would have politely explained what the zip tie was

Guess what? I read the article and do not get it. And this is coming from a 62 year old who has Pink Laces in a white Pair of FJs but for a good cause Cancer research. But then again for my age I do some funky stuff ( so the young ones say) I wear floppy Pukka hats with Stenson type shades and smoke a cigar on the course. I never heard the term sneaker heads until I read these posts. I see the sneaker heads as no different than any other collector say someone on here that collects rare Scotty head covers. Don't bother me none at all hey what ever floats someone's boat. Me being as outrageous old fart as I am I may put a colored wire tie on my left shoe this weekend. If someone asks me about it I will give them some BS line about it helping my alignment or something or say don't know Brooks wore one on his Nike shoes. Now seriously I do like Brooks but he could have handled it better I think. He did not have to go into the 40 year old thing. He could have simply said it was a popular fashion statement of the sneakerheads. Which being honest before reading this thread I had no idea what a sneaker head was and if I had read the article before coming on here I would have been clueless. Oh well WRX is educational

Coming from the pet rock - mood ring generation, I'm not surprised by tag-outs on a shoe.

Look for a priceless circle T tag-out in your next Scotty Glamouron Club goody bag.
