Theragun - Legit!

All - I see a lot of posts here on equipment but I wanted to share one that has to deal with taking care of the most important piece of equipment - you!

Enter the Theragun - it’s amazing.

basically, it’s a hand held massage gun you can use on yourself or ask someone to help for your back that absolutely makes a huge difference in pain reduction, mobility and recovery.

my wife and I tried it at a holiday shopping event at our club where a number of vendors came in. It’s really, really good. I got her one for Xmas and have been Theraguning the S out of my back/legs/etc. you might feel fine but this thing will show you just how tight you are. It works really, really well.

as an aside - my wife suffers from migraines and she’s now used the Theragun to relive tension and soreness in her neck/shoulders and it has done wonders to bring her relief when her head starts hurting (which is actually why we got it - the reduction in pain for me is just a bonus!).

im not affiliated with Theragun in any way so this is purely an FYI for all of you. I’m 35, play competitive tennis and golf, lift and have two little girls I keep up with. I used to wake up hurting with stiffness/soreness but now I can wake up and walk fine, not feel like I need to sit in a sauna, etc.

Oh, and now that I’m loosened up I gained yardage, can lag the club much better/work the ball and no longer feel “old” ?.

If you’re going to make one investment this year - get this thing. The cheapest one works great. Use it regularly and you won’t regret it.

I bought a knock off on Amazon, paid $100 and its the exact same thing as a hypervolt. Even will take the Hypervolt batteries! Love it!

I should note that I snuck away with the Theragun for about $140. Had some discounts and a gift card Golf Galaxy.

The low end model is like $250. The high end is like $600 - which is nuts. The base model works just fine!

When I used to play flag football on Sundays, one of my teammates who was a physical trainer used a cordless car wax buffing machine. Lol. I don't think that will fit in your golf bag though.

A chiropractor I used to visit had a jigsaw with a modified blade attachment that had a soft rubbery ball on it. This was 5-6 years ago. Worked pretty well.

I've used theragun/hypervolt to warm up my body (arms, shoulders, hips, glutes/hammies) as opposed to hitting balls on the range.

HackDaddy, did you get the G3 or liv model? I'm in the market of getting one of these and have been waiting for the Hypervolt to go back down to $250 on Amazon. Interested in the Theragun but the liv model doesn't seem to offer as much as the Hypervolt.

I got the Liv and I’m 100% satisfied with it to this point.

I tried the Hypervolt as well and it’s also a good piece - nothing wrong with it at all. I simply personally like the overall impact/feel of the Theragun better - which is entirely subjective

Massage Sore Muscles With This … Black & Decker Power Tool? Can a Car Buffer Soothe Sore Muscles as Well as a Theragun?

I heard about this listening to a podcast yesterday. Supposedly a car buffer can provide similar results for some people. I know nothing more than this, but just sharing for those that might want your wife to give you a weird look one of these nights.

As the owner of a multi speed 6-inch orbital and a Theragun, is much rather use the Theragun on my my body - leave the orbital for a good detailing session.

My son got me one for Christmas, The LifePro Fitness "Sonic" massage gun.

It is, without question, helping me. Here's my routine:

I wake up in the morning and while my coffee is brewing, I use the damn thing all over my body, from almost head to toe. And it's just CRAZY how much better I feel. When I golf, I take it with me in the carrying case (I usually ride a cart) and I use it once or twice a round when the back spasm start to form.

And that's it.

I think my sone paid $150 for this one. It's not as powerful as the Theragun, but it's quiet, (like the HyperIce Hypervolt). But the Theragun was just too much for me. So glad my son picked this one.

I'm extremely skeptical that it has any, actual therapeutic (healing of disease or real issues) benefit. But it sure seems to loosen you up.

I recently got the Sonic LX and love it. It has helped provide relief from nagging Golfer's Elbow so much so that it is basically gone. After hitting balls or a tough workout, I use it and wake up with minimal soreness the next day which was never the case before. I cannot recommend using a massage gun enough. They provide almost instantaneous relief of built up tension.

I use a cheaper one only because there's no proven evidence it actually does anything, BUT it definitely helps me ( I wasn't willing to pay $300 for the "unknown")

 The massage guns are definitely gaining traction as there are more and more affordable options coming out

I love it for the gym the most. But before and after a round of golf walking .... oooo it can hurt soooo good

I can report back after a week of using this thing that I LOVE IT! I typically have a bunch of stiffness in my neck and between my should blades after practicing or playing, but started using this bad boy almost every night, and definitely after every practice session..... it's money. My neck is as loose as it has been in years.

 

My family is annoyed though, I keep running around the house with it asking if they are sore.... because "I can put the gun on ya!" LOLOLOL......

Ive never heard anyone claim it heals disease. To me, if it loosens me up and helps me recover faster, it’s worth every penny.

My trainer uses an orbital sander. I swear it makes my skin numb for a few minutes afterward.

My father in law does Equine Therapy professionally. He has a very expensive, all metal, old school plug in of one of these. When we're able to visit him, he'll layer a couple towels over my back/glutes/legs and work out all of my pains. I literally stopped needing a chiropractor because of this.

Seeing how relatively inexpensive and portable these modern ones are, I will be making a purchase soon.

I bought a reathlete deep4s which was on sale and it looks as versatile as a theragun pro but at a fraction of the cost. Some amazon reviews were great. Some were not great. I'm already nervous and wondering if I should've splurged and bought an actual theragun. So will update for anyone's interest after I receive the product. Don't mean to hijack the thread but was wondering if anyone has tried this brand out?
