Oh man a D4....? I was ready to put my order in for D3 tomorrow! Is it coming at release date or way further down the line?

Got fitted today. I was really impressed with the 917 line up. To me the D2 felt better and sounded better than the D3. The weights are fun to play with and you can dial in your swing weights to what feels good to you. I went in thinking I would be fit for the D3 and I was wrong . D2 was the clear winner. Also F2 fairway was amazing imo. Felt awesome. So I am ordering:

 

D2 w/ 10g head weight. Diamana D+ Limited 70X at 44 3/4"

 

F2 15deg standard head weight w/ D+ Limited 80X 43"

 

But also gonna pull my Oban Black and white and put anadapter in it to compare. And also need to cut them down to match what I got fit for.

 

Asked if a D4 was coming and the Titleist fitter said yes. Also asked if the weight kit comes with and he said no, but you can buy it for $125. And I'm not sure if it's just for the driver or for both driver and fairway. Didn't ask if their was a separate weight kit for the fairways.

 

All in all very impressed and will be gaming the 917 in October!

 

On a side note. Does anyone know the specs for the D+ Limited shafts?

 

There was a previous post that said the driver will come with a neutral and a heavy sided weight. I assume a separate weight kit would be different weighted bars to adjust sw?

Hit both today D3 and D2

 

Came into the fitting thinking that the D3 would be my choice but ended up going with a D2. Loved the Fuji pro 74 and rogue max 65x but ended up with a rogue silver 125 Msi 70x. was getting better ball speed and better numbers with the D2 set to neutral. D2 ball speed was 181, swing speed at 123, on a trackman.

 

 

Really impressed and surprised by the D2. The feel and shape are a bit better on the D3 but the D2 is a cannon. I think it will be a big time seller.

 

What loft head? Any tipping to the shaft? Do you remember about what your AoA was?

Actually, now that I consider wedgeworks prices and this new crown putter line, they are just robbing the customer lately.

 

That being said, I will try the D2/D3 at some point this winter.

So I can't ask if he got an up charge shaft tipped or not?

I think all stock shafts are tipped 1" to make up for the loss of flex in the adapter. It's either 1" or .5" but I'm pretty sure it was 1".

That's common prep nowadays, yes. But, that isn't considered tipped, at least not to me, if you're getting a stock prepped shaft. I guess I'll say it like this: I want to know if he got his shaft with more of the tip cut off than how they normally come.

That was with an 8.5 D2 head. Shaft tipped an inch. AOA +3.3

I think they could have done much better. I feel they nailed it with the 915 and 816 headcovers and could have done better with the 917.

Just use your 915 headcovers. You could even sell the brand new 917 headcovers to get some cash back. No big deal, they're just headcovers!

Saw these at a private launch - the Drivers look awesome. Not so sure about the woods, but that's just me not liking the head shape. They had some funky loft options - 14 and 16.5 degrees. We got kicked out before we could hit one though!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the headcovers. Everything seems to be going down that sort of style. Wish they would go back to to the 975 style with the black, white and red striped end to it. Those things were awesome.

Agreed. The newer OEM driver headcovers look like friggin' space ships. Can't stand any of them. Some of the new Titleist leather special release headcovers have been pretty sweet though.

Not sure if that's the complete stock lineup, but I'm sure that more info will come out over the next several days.

 

Would presume that the Speeder Pro is taking the place of the 661 and 757, and perhaps the M*AX taking the place of both the Rogue Black and Silver. However, time will certainly tell with the upcoming fitting schedule per Titleist email blast and pre-orders to be accepted this week.
