We’re not all like that... just FYI lol

Part of me wants to believe that this was always an April Fools Day prank, but part of me thinks he really does have one length irons somewhere...

More research is needed.

I started it last night.. it’s really good. Detailed, long, thorough. I think it’s gonna take 3-4 sessions just to get thru it once and then figuring out how to take advantage of it. I think it’s a GREAT tool for Montes students... fills in the gaps, elaborates on the core ideas from lessons. Before I retired my business was media-based education. This is excellent learning design.

Chris is up for Supporting Actor award. One suggestion for the sequel. Bust Montes chops a little. Need some conflict, dramatic tension.

PS: I am rarely jealous of anyone. Montes at the Masters today. Sure would like to be there. That place is going to be electric (even without thunderstorms)

Mine paid off in just the same way. I've already gotten my money's worth just from "feel the right hip moving more than the left" and "the downswing starts before the backswing is done". I also appreciated the discussion of your wrist injury since I did pretty much the same thing to mine.

It was a lot of fun to film and be a part of. We did the filming back in June of last year, so it's fun to look back and see what I was working on and also to use some of the concepts as our season starts here in NY.

We had to retake a few times because the two of us couldn't stop laughing. The director scolded us LOL. Perhaps some of the outtakes will make the light of day. We had a real blast filming it and cutting up.

Great video, and already my favorite of his. Wish I had this four years ago. Is it just me, or has his entire approach to instructing the golf swing changed over the past couple years?

I think its just getting more refined over the years. With the amount of clinics and lessons taking place now, learning what cues work for people and how to change how certain ideas are conveyed just makes it easier for some of us to implement the swing concepts. Alot of the concepts are the same but there are definitely some that are being explained differently than say 3-4 years ago.

Monte's a very smart guy. Smart people keep learning. When he burst onto the scene here, he was almost a rookie as a teacher. In 5 more years (if he doesn't make Champions Tour), he'll be an even better teacher.

I'd agree with other responses. I would use the word evolved instead of changed to describe what's occurred. He's learned a lot along the way as he's done more and more teaching and is this better able to adapt the approach.

But he's never been method and the idea to attack the big flaw (s) and work on that has been there for some time.

The thing a lot of folks still don't get about Monte is he went out and took the time from basically ground zero to observe and learn and figure stuff out. It's not like many that learn to teach from other teachers (not saying that's right or wrong by any means and many learn from all sorts of combinations of experiences), or learned from others but found some "secret" or "niche" to peddle. His approach is unique and you've got to have a keen eye and "get" stuff - it's a unique talent and he's genuine.

Just keeps learning and trying to figure things out, but I agree with the above - the basic approach is the same. I see in his new vid a little drill he was experimenting with last year - in Cali he said he had something different that might work for me, but wasn't ready to try it on me (I said "great" but thought "darn"), in Sioux Falls he said, "let's try this". Worked. Had my daughter video him doing it and him showing me how to do it so I'd not forget. Happy to be part of an experiment. Always thinking, kind of like his on range teaching - don't worry about the result so much as you are trying to get through something new, keep trying different things, see what resonates for you.

Great responses, and I agree that his approach has changed/evolved/refined in a good way. I haven’t done anything one-on-one with him in a while, so I don’t know how he approaches things in-person now. But I’d describe the change as reactive (in the past) vs proactive (now).

And I see absolutely nothing in the new material about using arms to sync with the lower body...is that all no longer relevant with his new “method”? Or does it still apply? And think that’s my only question after having seen the new series. Everything else is quite clear and comprehensive.

"Hyperextends" "Snapping" - Kostis couldn't even explain correctly what was right in front of him. It was so stupid. Koepka doesn't do that and the 3D didn't show that.

Edit: to “start” his downswing.

Monte has plain and simply gotten better as a teacher over the years.

In terms of what he teaches, it still the same overall idea. Find the biggest issue, and fix it, then go from there.

Pepsi, IMO the reason you don't see anything about synching the arms in the latest video is because (like monte says) its about building a swing, not correcting flaws. Build the swing correctly from the start, and things shouldn't .... Shouldn't get out of synch. (Although anything is possible with people lol)

That. Was. Incredible.

I didn't play golf the last time Tiger won a major. The only memories I have of Tiger winning are from when I was a kid and he was the biggest name in golf, much like Michael Jordan was to me for basketball. This win was special to watch. I finally had a taste of what Tiger Mania was about. It was such an entertaining Masters, and so great to finally see Tiger return to glory. He deserved it.

Great point here. Has he reached a point where he either "knows enough" or can explain it well enough to build a swing rather than correct existing flaws?

Last "complaint" about the video series...he stops at transition, most likely by design. Feels like the ending to Monty Python and the Holy Grail...I'm still not sure what happens after that. Are we to believe that whatever happens happens? Or do we just keep turning? I have a couple theories on how we actually get the club to the ball after transition, all of which produce varying degrees of ball-striking success...
