I have a set of MP33's that I love as well.  They'll be getting refurbished when I'm finished with the TM's.

I sold mine, still cry into my pillow some nights!

The MP33 comments remind me....   they're conforming to the groove rule.  Just sayin'  🙂

In other non-news, still in a bit of a holding pattern on my reshaft projects.  I have a full set of Recoil 95 ready to be installed in something.  If I could only figure out which set I should do that with.  And, I'm going to put my 986 Tour set together with either Modus 120 / 105, or possibly NS Pro 950GH, just not sure which at this point.

Reason for the latter, my set was a refinish, and the org that refinished the clubheads decided to randomly bore three of the clubheads parallel, while the other six are tapered.  Ugh.  (and I'd rather not mess with shims)

Also have a set of Rapid Taper 95 graphite shafts that I might hold on to until GolfWorks releases their new blade, the TS4, some time later this summer.

Procrastination!

I bought shims from Golfworks for a project. Never applied it but when I tested them they were quite snug. Tighter than most taper fit applications.I would have no issue using them if it came to it.

The irony in my shim avoidance is that I've used shims, many times.  Have never had a failure.  In fact, the parallel bored 6i in my 986 Tour set has, right now, a tapered DG shaft installed with a shim.   LOL

I may change my mind, but the above is how I'm feeling about it right now.  Maybe instead, I should just plug in the Recoil 95s and go to town.  😉

I keep kicking the tires on trying sub 95g shafts. I really have no faith in any launch monitor and a mat for definitive numbers. Been fooled with that many times. Feel like the only way to really test this is to just buy a set of shafts, balance them and go to work on the grass with various uneven lies. Maybe. Have a set of Yamaha rmx120 irons I'm considering testing the theory on. Looking forward to seeing your set play out NRJ

Good to see this thread back up where it belongs on the first page!

Not much to report on my part I am afraid.

Added some extra magic dust (AKA lead tape) to the current gamers, the Apex MB 21's and I have no real need to change.

Play well everyone

Hey gang, quick question here and I figured if anyone would know you folks would.  Maybe I was dreaming but I thought I saw a picture of some obscure TaylorMade blades on the site somewhere but I can't seem to locate it now.  I believe they were a Japanese issue thing from a few years back - a real blade I think and not the ones with the hollow long irons.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You might be thinking of these.  I played this set for half a season before going back to my Titleists.  I got the set for free from TM with stock shafts and never fell in love with them.

Titleist T's w/ S400. Man do I love these. I hit them once, best short irons I ever hit but these deserve only  "A" game. Have not had that in years but  understand why.

Both sets have a #2i-PW set up and other goal is new metals along with working #2i. And if that means I carry 15 clubs, I'll do it, haha.

Are the TMs miura forgerd? Both are 🔥

Just back home after a round of simulator golf.  Took with me my 2-PW Vibration Matched Golden Rams, that now have Nippon 950GH shafts.

And it was amazing.  I did turn over a few shots more than intended, but hit them rather well.  And, a bit farther than I was expecting, based on how I've hit in the sims of late.  Actually was hitting my 5 iron as far as I was in 2002, which was a pleasant surprise.  I've lost a bit in the last couple years, so to see that I'm still able to get it out there as I did in my late 30s, before I hit my swingspeed peak, made me feel a bit better about my game.

More importantly, I really enjoyed hitting Golden Rams again.  Just lovely.  I've been missing them.  🙂

I do a lot of simulator golf (with Top Tracer). I have to say, it's really helped me tighten up my game. First round out this year, I struck the ball as well as ever. Didn't hole any putts and managed 79. I figure when the putts do drop, I have some low rounds in me this year.

Earlier this year I was hitting the Daiwa Pro Specials from a few pages back, but I'm using the MR23 Cbs for the next couple of months. I've got a few tournaments coming up and I'm comfortable with the yardages and I don't have to mess with my comfy wedge set up.

Only real change this year is taking out an old Mizuno CLK Hybrid from 2011 and replacing it with a CLK from 2006. Going with a little stronger loft, from 22 down to 20. And a little heavier shaft Diamana Thump 100x from 90x. First round with it I smoked it a couple times. I was looking at putting a Royal Collection BBD V7 20 degree hybrid into play, but it's hard to find a shaft that will fit in it. It's become a paperweight... Think it has a .350 hosel... Everything I have is either .355 or .370.

A local shop had a 2i~PW set of the T-stamps with S400s in a year or two ago. Pristine condition. I went and hit them a few times in the net, but was never going to buy them as I had enough clubs as it was.

I have to agree with you about requiring your A game to hit them. Some days I went and was hitting them well, and I was REALLY tempted to drop the US$1,000 or so to acquire them. Other days, I couldn't find the sweet spot on anything longer than a 7i, and I was happy to leave them in the shop.

Gorgeous looking irons, anyway.

I got to try out the new Srixon Z-forged this weekend at a demo day. I think the rep said it was going to be released in early April.

I found it OK, but the lie angle was a bit flat for my liking, and it was tough to make good contact without the toe going in first. I think it looks better than the original Z-forged, but the original was incredibly easy to hit.

I also hit a new Yonex sort-of-blade that's coming out soon. It has a slot in the back with some polymer in it, but at address it looks like a beautiful blade with very little offset.

The rep handed the 7i to me and said "try this". I told him that I wasn't in the market for irons as I have enough sets already, but he replies that that's OK, just give it a hit.

It had a Modus 125S shaft in it, which is not a bad fit for me.

I nuked it. Landed right next to the 180-yard mark, which I haven't reached with an 7i since my last hernia.

I handed it back to him before I was tempted to drop the kid's college fund for a complete set...

I wonder what the loft was?  There are blades and quasi-blades that have some incredibly strong lofts these days.

Be careful, Catchy.  😉

That's about how I saw them. The short irons are super accurate, like throwing darts, mid & long progressively demanding even by blade standards. If you put 681 & T stamp side by side, T has about 1/16"(1.5mm) of an inch thicker muscle & it's 1/16" higher up and that's all the difference. 681's are easier on longer clubs.

I checked with him after I hit it. 34*, which is the same as my MP4 7i.

Now whether they had jacked the lofts to sell more clubs based on distance, well that I've no idea about. But the ball flight was beautifully high for me, so no complaints there.

Speaking of MP4s...

2nd Swing has a set, 3-PW.  They actually have Recoil 95 shafts in them, already.  It's been causing a dent in the willpower here.  LOL
