with all due respect, 10.5 degree Ping will balloon any ball on planet. Certainly wrong condition for test, especially MTB X that is supposed to fly higher.

It's not a perfect translation. In terms of compression, your equation is pretty close. They're all pretty similar in driver spin. With a 7 iron and wedge, the Black is a few hundred rpm lower spin than either Titleist, while the MTB X is slightly higher than either Titleist (about 100 rpm across swingspeeds tested by the site which shall not be named).

And the MTB X is consistently faster, thus longer, than the other three.

Yeah read that sites findings. Guess I was just curious if that data has translated in course for most people?

Bought some new MTB balls and added a box of MTBX balls to try. I've only had a chance to chip and pitch with the new ball but so far I'm impressed with the spin you can impart, more than the MTB. Can't wait to try it this weekend on the course and see how it performs. I'm a big MTB fan so it's going to be hard to switch (and even harder as I just reloaded my stock for the season) but looking forward to seeing how it performs on the course.

Ya it would be nice to get an in depth on course review comparing all the big brands...Srixon Z and XV, Titleist V1 and V1X, Bridgestone B and BX, Callway Soft and Soft X, TM 5 and 5X, and Snell MTB and MTBX.

I really love the MTB X, but for me so far it hasn't held up well to abuse. The cost per ball is still cheaper compared to other competitors though.

Can you explain why 10.5 Ping will do that. I'm not well read of the dynamics of ballooning or what to look for. I currently game a 10.5 but also own a 9.5, but go with the 10.5 for forgiveness.

It doesn't lol. He had multiple disagrees yesterday before the forum removed the capacity to do so. It's an absurd thing to say.

On the bright side it allowed me to upgrade my signature to the correct loft, so he has that going for him.

I’m a high swing speed player and struggle with generating too much spin and too high launch... I’m fine on irons and wedges in terms of spin.

Black or x for my next order?

I would say that the MTB Black is equivalent to the Vice Pro, not Pro+. I've played all three and found the Black and Pro interchangeable and undistinguishable in terms of distance and fell.

OK, so I got my order of MTB X and decided to give it a try. I've been playing the Bridgestone Tour B RX so I fully expected it to feel hard, and it did. Off the irons it wasn't too bad, but I just couldn't get used to it off the driver. I switched to the MTB Black and it felt a little firmer than than the RX but not harsh. Finished the round with the Black and I think I'm going to stick with it. Did seem a little shorter than the RX... anyone else compared the Black to the Tour B RX?

I’m waiting on 24 mtb black... my best ball this season was the Bridgestone b x. Would love to pick up spin from under 100 yards.

Ya, I would say the MTB X would be the choice for your desired results. I was looking for the same and they are great. Fabulous tee ball and nice spin with wedges. Only complaint would be their durability compared to other premium balls.

On half wedges, I’d like them to stop faster... I’ll give the black a try and see how they do...

I thought the original MTB Red was a great spinner on less than full wedge shots. I liked that about it. Hated everything else about the ball but it was good at spinning around the green.

The current MTB Black seems to spin reasonably well, though. I'd imagine most people would find it pretty adequate on those shots, even if slightly less than a few of the highest-spinning models.

I m a high spinner. Black will roll a bit, but not long. X will sit and stop.

I liked how the x played but decided to try the black... I think improving my contact will have a much bigger impact.
