Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

Fun day with Jimwgt26 yesterday at Village Links on a windy afternoon. Lefty and Vnutz would appreciate the ho-hum 9 front nine pars. A few others on the back including topping my 3-wood on the 13th tee. Ah well, you get that. Recovered well after that though and just missed the 20 foot eagle putt on 16. All in all, a good ball-striking day and whilst the greens were rolling nicely, couldn't make anything outside of 6 feet.

Always a pleasure. Despite my body falling apart, yesterday my back was killing me. Stunk it up on the front, but played ok on the back.

Did you break out the ClicGear Jim? Vnutz was sporting one last time we played.

Did you guys check out the new course at all? We were told they were going to upcharge the stay if you wanted to play it, we heard varying prices none of which sounded reasonable and given what we saw the course just didn't look like anything special, a half assed highlands of Elgin was what one guy thought in our group. Rumor has it they ran out of money and are struggling to finish a couple of the holes...

No, didn't get a chance to look at the new course. I'm not expecting a great course, but it would be nice to have a longer, more open course at the facility. Unless of course they try to extract too high a premium.

I used a rental pull cart. I haven't pulled the trigger yet on a Clicgear. There's no refurbished available. I'm too cheap to pay retail.

Played Oak Ridge in LaSalle yesterday. Very nice course with alot of doglegs, The back 9 had some very scenic, challenging holes. Only negative were the traps many of which were filled with water and the ones which had no water had very little sand in them giving them a clay like texture. The area got a sh^t load of rain the previous evening. Course is way out there from the Chicago burbs but it was well worth it especially for the $14 GN hot deal.

It looks more open just staring across the land but when you start looking at the holes it appears they just replaced the trees with tall fescue. There's a lot of elevation and deep bunkering and from the back tee's I think it's 6700? It'll be interesting to see if they keep the course fairly dry and let it play like true links since that's exactly how it's designed, or if they keep it watered making it just another wannabe links course like most around here. I would like another course up there that is more like the North course where you can use driver on most of the holes, east/west/south is hybrid and irons off the tee on most holes. Bedford you can rock the driver on but we didn't play that one this year.

It looks like a beautiful morning out and part of me feels like I should be on a course right now but after 100+ holes of golf this week I 'm a bit burnt out and my back is not liking me. Hope everybody gets out today and hits them good!

Played Carriage Greens yesterday for the 2nd and final time. I wanted to play Big Run. But my buddy wanted to stay near Chicago Highlands so he suggested Fresh Meadows. I told him no way, so he came up with CG :/

5 hours of golf tedium. Boring layout, sticky blue fertilizer on the greens, was almost struck 4 times. Partner is a good friend, so that was saving grace. And a couple of good looking women working in their bar.

I've been on a train since Wednesday night, traveling from LA to San Antonio, and back to Chicago. Should be home in a few hours, and then I'll look to see what's available tomorrow morning. I'll probably stay close to downtown, and then start with the distant courses again next week.

Discount dans wasn't that much more than refurbed.

Clicgear 3.5 at Discount Dan's $190, no tax and free shipping. That's $50 cheaper than buying at a big box store.

How was the color selection? A lot were out of stock when I got mine so I went with black and charcoal, not very flashy.

I got silver. Salesmen said it ships directly from Clicgear.

Oak Grove today.

Liked it so much, I'm going again tomorrow.

My scorecard was a complete hit or miss.

Filled with pars and eights.

There are a few really cool holes that make you think about how you're going to attack them.

It's only a 30 minute drive for me so this one is going into my regular rotation with Hawk's View, Fox Lake CC, Lake Lawn, and Nippersink.
