I did the same thing with my softtail. I just told him no snow...he did the rest. Love the softtail.

About as forgiving as any other blade. But at least David gets the COG in the middle so it's balanced.

He is one of my favorites to just let stamp whatever he wants. Always goes a great job with something unexpected.

If you’re lucky enough to get him to sell you a putter directly, you generally don’t get to pick too much…like stamping, grip, shaft, weight, finish, etc. if you’re going after a “custom”, I recommend reaching out to him for something pretty generic. If he has the time and/or something ready or close to being ready that will fit what you’re asking for, he normally gets back to you. If not, you never hear back from him. If he does get back to you and gives you a quote, you should pay as soon as you can so you get your putter. If you waffle around (I’ve done this before), you’ll never see a putter. At least this is my experience on multiple attempts. Others may have different experiences, or similar…that’s the mystery behind David. It really is super entertaining.

You can always ask, but I think he supplies what he has at the moment. You can select between midsize or standard grip. But he doesn’t provide old style grips (like the old paddle or crosshairs). My last refinish he supplied a golf pride pro only grip.

Headcovers are the same. You can ask about styles and colors, but he doesn’t carry old styles.  Now he has been known to look around the shop and find an old box of goodies in the shop. But that’s the exception.

He’s always asked me what grip I wanted and let me know what he had available so I could choose. I prefer his leather grip, which is the best grips major leaguer, but once recently got a standard size golf pride pro only from him when he was out of the leather grip - not sure what else he has available these days.

I typically don’t care what headcover so I just end up with whatever he chooses.

Old style non high toe, and of course the ports drilled out of the sole. It’s also got that notch cut out at the base of the neck.

I don’t know that David has ever done porting for weight reduction. I’m assuming it was done by someone else. But still cool.

New custom for me by Mills… I was told this was a .370 shaft… but the .370 black shaft I ordered isn’t fitting. Any ideas??

Traditional is a more classic no cavity blade, smaller, usually more toe hang. 

 

Traditional 2 is more an Anser shape with some TP Mills twist.
