Seeing Mike Ness is now 62 makes me feel old! Crazy he (they) are still touring 🤪

They were great.  I had never heard of them.  Apparently Neil’s kids have autism and loved them so he asked them to tour with him.  May have been ‘91 (it was the Weld tour).  Neil is a savant and even then the opener made him young.  I saw them about 10 years ago with Project of the Real, Neil was 30 going on 75, and the 20 minute Down by the River was everything you could imagine.

Saw em once in SF when I was very young and numerous times in SoCal when I was in college. Always a great show. Shared some members w/another band I was really into. The Adolescents.

Never heard nor saw the Adolescents, of course I was in my thirties when they were adolescents.  I think they were mentioned at the punk rock museum, a must see if that was your thing and you’re my age.

@aenemated knows the guide we had (Matt Pinfield), I didn’t slob all over him but he seemed like a great guy and would encourage you to do it.

I thought I was bereft of punk knowledge, and every band he mentioned my wife was like, “Oh god, I know them.”

I am much older than you.  Caught the tail end, early 80s but could see THE bands because I wasn’t 21.

EDIT: Matt had some fanboys.  Like selfies and other stuff.  I told his girlfriend to thank him from me.  Not gonna wait in line.  A true wealth of knowledge though.

I like speed knobs, though. Like my golf clubs, made this guitar into my own ...

As a long time fan of Mr. Saul Hudson, I've always pulled the pickguard off. The zebra buckers, my good pal Wolfe MacLeod made for me. Closest that sound like P90s that are buckers. Some interesting science along all that.

Reworked the bridge and tailpiece. The cool thing about a Tune-O-Matic is how much you can do with it.

So many terrific/iconic punk bands in SoCal in mid 80s to early 90s. Was such a great scene. I think I’ve forgotten half of em. Few sound as good to me now as they did to me then. I can say Social Ds stuff is one that has withstood the test of time.

That’s what’s weird.  The LA scene was something I knew.  I felt late to it bc I was a Midwest guy, but every band, every city, I knew the band.

I was in seersucker at the museum (that’s who I am) and the punks in leather are jaws down and I am thinking, “Oh, I saw them” or I didn’t see them bc they only had the one album and that would be lame.

Old and in the Way… that’s a Jerry reference, yeah, I saw him too.

Surprised they didn't do this tune ...

I've always loved how many of my old Hollywood spots show up in that vid. Completely unintentional.

I always liked Social D still do. Never saw them in person. Put 2 and 2 together from a sound man's point. I always loved their sound now I know why good old tube Marshal Amps.

When we first started the wrecker business I used to run around Dirty Myrtle in a 1989 GMC wheel lift wrecker playing Social D on the CD player. Good days good times for sure

Mike's got the best tone. He digs 70s LPs through P90s (PRETTY sure he just plays Duncans) into a Fender Bassman head through an old TV Marshall 4x12. Then just a freakin Boss DS-1 to break it up.

It's like ... how simple could you get? And sounds amazing.

Yeah sound today is getting too complicated. We just got a new Pro Sonus 64 computerized board whare I run sound at. It replaced the old Pro Sonus board that was 25 years old. Now the old board gave no trouble but it was time to replace. That new board has all the bells and whistles and I am still learning it. But in retrospect give me an old school Pevy 25 and I am happy. I learned on that board and have ran several different ones and can run one in my sleep

You know this one right, Stu? If not ... think you might like it.

Saw Ben a whole bunch at what was formerly Spaceland in LA. Turned to Satellite and I think it's all gone now. All the good spots to play in LA are history. Big bummer.

"Just another Southern boy with dreams of NYC." MAN, I've held on to that line.

That is why I bailed out of there man before I got mad and said something that would get me banned

I used to truck into NYC because it paid great. Never desired to live there. Lived in Florida briefly a couple of times. Did live in Missouri for like 2 months and Texas for a couple of months. Like the old beach music tune "Carolina is my Home"  When I got my WC settlement and settlement on the 2 other suits relating to my accident we could have moved. We decided we did not want to live anywhere else but the Carolinas so we stayed. Both of us have been to all 48 states and I have been to Alaska one time.

Very cool. He was a bad MFer as I understand. I lived in Miami from 2013 - 2016 so it was hipster central by that time.

Sure do miss "The Sweet Science" of professional boxing.  When one knew all the weight class champs, the up and comers.  The epicness of the three Ali/Fraizer bouts.  The great Latin middleweights like Roberto Duran, Carlos Monzon. Could watch the matches on regular TV before pay-per-view.  Around here, there was the Kronk Gym led by trainer Emanuel Steward.  Thomas "the Hitman" Hearns and his memorable bouts with Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler.  Hilmer Kenty was the first "champ" as a lightweight for the gym.  Sadly, it's now gone as well.

MMA and derivations are repugnant in all instances.
