I once did the 999 challenge, by accident (Skiing/Golf/Bar). My son and I went up skiing and snowboarding in February at Mount Baker, 50 miles east of here.  Half day pass.  Returned home... went down to my favorite "watering hole" (love that euphemism) for an afternoon cocktail. While sipping it I realized how nice it was outside.  Light bulb goes off!  Jump in the car, clubs always in trunk, and zip out to Lake Padden Golf Course for a quick 9 holes before sunset.

I've had a set of '76 Staffs in inventory for several years.  Don't recall where I scrounged them.  Never hit a golf ball with one.  The Dynamic stiff shafts are more than imposing, and the 8 iron has been reshafted (poorly) with a TT Lite that is way long.  I've thought about "modernizing" them, but Wilsons seem to always present PITA problems with shaft extraction.  They're reasonably attractive.  

 

 

Ditto with Citations.  Have several in inventory, including a decent shape 1,3,5 that I roll out infrequently. At least they're shafted regular, so stand a chance.  Contrary to most, I like the look of a black wood wood like yours. As opposed to the typical stained.  Looks classy IMO.  Something about Citations with the brass back weight.  These are of a newer vintage than your Horseshoes.  A verification pic to prove that they have been out for a stroll on a golf course.  In warm weather conditions.  

 

 

Just some classical implements that I've picked up for next to nothing.  They come and they go.  

 

 

 

 

 

I have some H&B Pro Sonics with brass inserts when I go vintage.

 

I agree, nice look. And I probably hit them as well as modern fairway woods.

It was a balmy 6* with no wind and the greens had thawed. I stuck with the same vintage lineup as yesterday. It was a very pleasant round with two good friends. A good “boring old man golf” round of 79. 

 

Tomorrow is supposed to reach 8*, almost shorts weather (not). I always wear my denim plus fours at this time of year. We will likely have two groups and I see the potential for a loonie ($1) match. I decided to make some changes and put Otey back in the bag along with my Ginty Steamer and a couple Ping laminates.

Played at Stillwaters today. No one behind us so 6 of us teed off together and played a scramble

of 3,  2 man teams. The first time I have ever played in a sixsome......but it worked just fine with us

pretty much having the course to ourselves.

So after a night and a day and a few curse words I have successfully transferred all my stuff from a dying 2012 MacBook to a new one. Still a few issues but it seems way faster now. Still won't let me log in to iCloud. Keeps rejecting my password even though it is the only and same one I have used. I did the forgot the password trick and got a code on my phone to reset it but that just goes round and round in circular failure. I need a teenager at home. I was perfectly happy with the old one but it became so slow that I gave up and got a new one. When I bought the first one they said it had so much power and memory that I could never use it all. They lied or decided to mess with it so I would buy a new one. I took it to the Apple Store in Spokane a year ago and had it worked on. Did not help a bit. Add curse word here.

There's nothing like getting a new laptop or smart phone for making me curse, as well, scotee.  For example, every time I buy a new phone not everything transfers over.  I have about 60 friends and acquaintances and their handicaps (including the last 2 Presidents) on a list in my GHIN app.  When I get a new phone the app comes over easily, but the data, the list disappears.  Also, I have a couple thousand photos neatly organized into labeled file folders in a nifty app I've had for years.  When I switch phones the photos come over but are no longer organized.  I have to start over from scratch.  If the frickin' companies that want to sell me a new phone would fix that I'd be a customer almost every year.  Add curse word here.

May likely already know this, maybe not.  Apple I.D. = iCloud password.  

 

To reset/change Apple I.D. on a Mac:  Apple menu (top left corner) > System Preferences  > Password and Security > Change Password.  Follow the instructions on the screen.  

 

With a new MacBook,  Apple Support should be able to walk you through through the process quickly.  Not a teenager.

Unfortunately, I have a Mac mini I use for many things, three iPhones, two iPads, and the lovely wife has a MacBook Air.

 

I have several Windows laptops for some engineering tools for the 3D business.

 

I hate them all, except for the Mac mini. It works well, but iMovie sucks.

 

Apple turned evil when they did the update that affected battery life to make people buy new phones and got caught.

 

I miss Steve Jobs.

 

The iCloud/Apple ID bug is real. It simply doesn’t work and Apple doesn’t care.

 

Get this - My original Apple and iCloud iD is was from Japan. The email from Japan hasn’t worked in 10 years. I can’t change it because Apple doesn’t allow a change of country domains.

 

And they don’t care.

 

Oh, you can change the password, but it DOES NOT WORK.

Oh, I almost forgot. My cart/scramble partner today brought his dog. A very cute smallish dog

named Chuck. This dog was so well behaved it was mind blowing.....and he is a real sweetheart

too that knows how to schmooze us humans. I wish now that I had taken a pic of him to post

here.

 

He sat in the cart between us and would stay there and watch as we got out and attended to

our golf business. Chuck quickly became the recipient of our comments and was updated

frequently as to the scores for each hole, when good and bad shots were hit, and who was

leading the match. He took it all in without comment. Smart doggie.

Same, I tried to login to itunes and got the "we sent a code to your device."  I had my family send me the iphone I used until 2017 before switching to samsung and tried it again.  No code was received.  Cripes Apple!

I played today my favorite local golf course the CC of A. It's so tough, and despite it's nasty reputation for having the most unfair greens in town I have always welcomed the challenge to take it on. 

It hit 60* this afternoon under partly cloudy skies. 

There were only two groups on the course all afternoon. 

Nothing special to report score wise, but I'm most grateful for getting out there this early December afternoon in such beautiful surroundings. 

It's all golfer smiles with me tonight in the AVL. 🙂 ⚡

Yep one of the reasons I use my non descript Jones bag in regular play and I use a old Vagabond nylon bag for vintage or either a vintage Hoofer. Yep I like flying under the radar

Well, I stopped by the local DSG in Montgomery today to get a club re-shafted. I parked in the lot

and walked in the store and all I saw there was an entire store with clothing. It looked like a poor

imitation of a Marshall's. What the &^%#*())*&^!!!

 

I walked over to what used to be the golf department and spoke to a young man there who said

he was new and he listened to me and then looked around and said "Ya, I could picture the golf

section" as he looked over at what was once the hitting bay. Seemingly he is a golfer or at least

familiar with the game.

 

So, he tells me that Dick's turned this location into a giant clothing warehouse and everything in

the store was 50% off. I don't need any more clothes so I bid him well and left; turning back to

look at the front of the store when I got back into the parking lot. I thought I must have been on

auto pilot when I got out of my car and headed into the store and just didn't look at the store

front.......but the store front was unchanged, other than a small banner announcing the clothing

sale.

 

I guess they've fallen on hard times. I'm not really a big fan of DSG but neither do I hope they

go under. I think they also own Golf Galaxy. Maybe it's just that this store here was not turning

a profit and not a national problem.
