Got my quote back on the Blueprint mixed S/T set w/Fuji AXIOMS. $225 a club. Seems really reasonable for that shaft… 🤔

Do you guys have access to a grass driving range close to ya? The more I read on here, the more I see a lot saying it’s mostly mats. I have a two DRs w/mats less than 5 min from my house. And less than 15 min away have an incredible facility with a huge grass side and a covered mat side. Most of the time I drive the 12-15 min and hit up the grass. I do appreciate the covered bays when it’s super sunny and hot.

All grass here, no mat driving ranges that I'm aware of.

Why yes, yes I do. It's a divot minefield that's always beat to hell but it's 5mins from the house. Was there yesterday evening! 

 

 

Paiute has a super rad practice facility that's not TOO far - maybe 15mins - but they don't sell buckets, only access to the facility. Only $30 and you can stay as long as ya want - but not really worth it for a quick sesh after work.

My course has all grass practice tees which are well maintained. Of course our members help maintain it by properly hitting in an area and filling in after we finish with sand and seed mixture. Wedo not have that many hacks even in tourist season because most of our Tourist golfers are older and do not use the range. Most courses here have grass ranges. Now the Tourist Trap range/par3/executive course/putt putt has some grass tees and mats. The mats are under a shelter. Now the grass area is questionable because you have the hacks taking divots all over the place big enough to bury Jimmy Hoffa. Their prices are too high anyhow and most locals stay away. If my range is closed then I hit off of my soft mat into my net at the house. If the grass is growing I hit off of it after all it is MY yard.

I have not been up there in years. One of my buds was over maintenance there. Have not seen him in a while either. When I came down here before living here we used to have some money matches at night after supper. That and the Harbour View Par 3 in Little River. Back about 20 years ago weather permitting we used to have a Wednesday Dog Fight. $50 per team 2 man team throw it in the pot winner take all plus side action. Man we used to have the draw. Mini Tour players from here and as far as the NC coast to Wilmington and beyond Club Pro players too. In fact DJ when he was at CCU and his buds used to show up some. My standing partner was the super of the course. Was nothing in those days to have 75 players or more. If we played 18 if there was time we would go again $50 throw in side bets and all. What speeded up things was they had carts and carts in our Dogfights were mandatory. Sometimes if we showed up early around 4 or so we would get an early round going with side bets and maybe a $20 throw in if enough teams. Just had to be done by 6:00 when the big action started. Those were the fun nights. Sometimes we would not hit on crap and lose $200 or more sometimes we hit it good. We walked out of there one night with $1500 in winnings each. It as petered out now like the local mini tours and such.

I’m telling the truth. I had the same thought.  And this thought occurred to me after he walked around the car and told me how good the body lines etc looked today - after he griped so hard last time , and said “ this is not what I expected “.   Key words were “ what I expected “.  My first thought today was “ you are ruining my mood - and that should cost you , not me “.    Today he went  right back to the “ quality is job 1” mantra.    If this were a blue collar dude who saved his whole life to build 1 car I’d get it. But This guy owns over 100 collector cars in a heated and aired building.  He ain’t  poor. And I’m not in partnership with him.  It’s his car.  So it comes from his pocket.    I think he came to his senses just in time.

well, i finally did go to the range yesterday. my irons have been pretty poor lately trying to protect my back. lot’s of crappy low “trap draws” as miller or watkins might say.

 

 hated it.

 

went with a single purpose/thought/feel and 5 minutes later, lo and behold, highest, straightest, rock solid irons i’ve hit in awhile.

 

 

finger lickin’ good.

The rehabilitated club ho in me is the problem considering I currently have 3 great sets. The old me woulda already got them AND the PC C05s! 😜
