Paiute has a super rad practice facility that's not TOO far - maybe 15mins - but they don't sell buckets, only access to the facility. Only $30 and you can stay as long as ya want - but not really worth it for a quick sesh after work. 

 

Tried to hold back but going on my seemingly annual diatribe about driving range divot etiquette. Why in gods name do some people have scattered divots all over their station. Why is it so hard to hit a shot, line up your next ball immediately adjacent to, or behind, the first one and so on. We used to have joking contests for the smallest divot patch after a certain number of balls. 
 

There is no truth to the rumor I would hit off the dirt in the middle of the patch just to win. I’m competitive but not that bad. No, really…..

Actually my 2nd. I claim Mizuno TZOID PROs as my 1sr set but actually had some horrific looking Ping ISIs for about 2 weeks. Walked into the golf shop, tell the guy I’m just starting out so he puts me in the GI Pings. I just couldn’t stand looking down at that mess and got the Mizzys shortly afterwards. Loved those babies 😍

No argument from me, dude. There's a marked difference between these public ranges and the one at Summerlin when I was still a member over there. 

 

There's 100% truth in the fact that I frequently just hit off the dirt. Easier than trying to find a little patch of turf to precariously balance the ball upon. Figure if I can flush a 5 iron off that; a nice fairway lie will feel like a 2 foot putt. 

 

Still better than the scourge of man that is mats.

Just looked and hit the Blueprint Ss at PGASS. Man, they are gorgeous and feel saweet! 🤤 But couldn’t believe no Blueprint Ts! I really want to go Ts in the 8-PW. But want to hit b4 deciding to for sure go mix or just all S. Guess I’ll have to go back to my lil “mom n pop” The Golf Mart.

You do not realize the people these days old and young seasoned and rookie golfers have no Idea about range etiquette on that matter. I used to play so many down matches I used to practice hitting out of the middle of divots. I sometimes do it simply for fun. The other week when I had the blades on the range I was doing it for fun and to see if I still could. Has some nosy snowbird ask "why would I do that?" I told him basically because I still can!!! We have sand and seed boxes on our range to fix our divots which most members do. He asked me why I was putting sand down? I told him because it was the correct thing to do. He stated boldly that it was the grounds crew job to do. I flew back hot as a match at him and told him the reason he had good grass to hit off of was because members like me took pride in the course and did not mind helping our grounds staff. He walked off leaving his mess that looked like a mine field. Of course I sanded his divots

I am a retired redneck truck driver and I figured that out this morning. Seriously== I watched the news reports early this morning. No telling how many times I have crossed that bridge driving a truck I was horrified in the fact that could have happened years ago with me on it.

There are still guys out there playing Eye 2s. I ran into a guy on a course in AZ some years

back who had a beautiful complete BeCu Eye 2 set 1-LW. He said he inherited it from his

dad. All the same serial#. 

 

I still come across old farts today playing Eye 2s from time to time. Even some guys that

are playing much newer irons; I see some with some old Ping sand wedge in the bag.

As you know I've bought and sold a lot of iron sets. I still have a 4-PW set of Eye2's I take out 5 or 6 times a year. I don't plan on ever getting rid of them.

Yep I still remember. I can't remember what happened 5 minutes ago but I remember well our

Wow, 5 sets. That's amazing. I wasn't playing during the Eye 2 era but I later saw pics of

a brand new BeCu Eye 2 set. Man, that copper was shiny like a mint copper penny when

new.

 

I like the patina of those copper sets. I had a few BeCu Eye 2 wedges I used to bring on

the course now and then. One of them @BIG STU sent me out of the blue. I almost

didn't want to hit them and wear the patina off the face and expose the shiny still there 

underneath.

 

The steel Eye 2 sets would develop a nice patina as well as they aged. I imagine those

Eye 2 sets will always have a following. A truly iconic iron set.
