Old Man Uses Hairdryer To Slow Speeding Traffic Near His Home

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meet Ulf Schewein, the 74-year-old neighborhood superhero with a secret weapon: his trusty hairdryer. Tired of fast-driving motorists zooming past his house, Ulf decided to take matters into his own hands – or rather, his hairdryer-wielding hands.

 

 

 

Armed with nothing but his blow dryer and a steely glare, Ulf transformed into the world's most unexpected traffic cop. Standing by the roadside, he stared down passing cars with a look that said, "I'm watching you... and so is my powerful hairdryer."

 

 

 

And guess what? It worked like a charm! Cars hit the brakes, convinced that Ulf was some kind of speed-monitoring wizard. In his retirement, Ulf has found a new calling – part-time traffic enforcer, full-time hairdryer hero. With unclear speed signs adding to the chaos on the streets and a seemingly MIA police force, Ulf's quirky tactic is the neighborhood's best bet for slowing down speed demons. Who knew a hairdryer and a determined retiree could be the answer to speeding issues?

Duke power customers in our area got notice yesterday of a possible rate increase.  My wife wonders why.  I know why.  We are  some of the lucky ones on hydroelectric  power.  They can see the demand coming.  And know that they’ll need us to pay that new going rate , or else they’ll sell parts of it off to those who will pay.    Paying is bad. But doing without is worse.  
 

I say a first  good step is criminalizing electric car manufacturing . ( partial joke - not really ). Seriously though. Waste should be identified and cut out. Charging cars is one of the most wasteful things on earth.  Anywhere a pair of lakes can be built between a dam, it should  have been being built 20 years ago.  Could be dual purpose to the good. Water retention and electric.  Red tape needs to be removed 

I think they just got Senate approval for a new Nuclear plant to be built near Charleston. Now there is a lot of argument going on after the Santee Cooper debacle a few years back where they basically abandoned one and it cost the Taxpayers a bunch of money and several officials went to Jail. And with them doing that after they closed the old coal fired plant up on 501 between Conway and Dirty Myrtle some 7 years ago now. Now not sure you know this but like 35 years ago Duke Power starting building a Power Plant near Blacksburg and abandoned it. In fact the movie The Abyss was filmed in the cooling tanks. I was not living in that area then so I do not know the details just what I heard in Cherokee County when I lived there

Probably arrested because he made the cops look bad. But having quite a few friends in Law Enforcement I got to stand up for the cops. If it is like here they are seriously short handed and crime rates are high so maybe they do not have time to work traffic.

I kind of loosely follow tennis. Danielle Collins has been one of my favorite American

players. She got a late start on a pro career, opting to be a college player, where she

won a lot.

 

Her pro career has been tough. She's had illnesses and injuries that set her back.

When she has been healthy she can play with anyone. 

 

She announced recently that she has decided to retire from pro tennis, at age 30,

at the end of the year, because she wants to have kids and a normal life.

 

Funny how life is. Now that she's made that announcement she's gone on a hot 

streak at the Miami Open, which is a big WTA 1000 event.

 

She won her semifinal yesterday and is into the final tomorrow. I saw this quote

from her after her semifinal win yesterday..................haha, she's a golfer and what

a great attitude!

 

“A day off tomorrow, hit the golf course, play a little tennis. Living the dream. Living the dream in Miami.”

I do know one thing.  When my grandpa was still alive. The mere mention of Duke Power Would  cause a cuss fit that ended in something like “ blank blank Doris  Duke has enough  blank blank money “ 🤣…. One day after Google was invented , I looked her up.  And guess what ?  He was not wrong !!  She did  have enough blank blank money !!

In 2012, I was working on a natural gas pipeline project near Goldsboro, NC. Duke decided to replace a coal fired PP with a modern "Co-Gen". What I found most interesting is the demo of the old coal fired plant was meticulous in its dismantlement. You see, the Chinese had purchased this facility ( and all of the coal fired PP's on the east coast) and controlled its disassembly like a pediatric heart surgery. Every nut and bolt was removed, catalogued, transported to the nearest port, and shipped to China where it was rebuilt and back on-line within 24 months. To my knowledge this has happened at least 30 times since 2010.
