Save the Bees!  Out here it's Save the Whales.  There is a local brewery that sells t-shirts that say "Save the Ales.

A few years back a bunch got wiped out in Georgetown County just south of me. The bee keeper whom everyone knew had warning signs warning BEES DO NOT SPRAY PAST THIS POINT. Guess what??? Some dim wit county employee could not read or did not care. They sprayed and wiped out millions of bees in his hives. Someone had the act on Go Pro and it was on the media here. Needless to say it cost the county a huge chunk of change

 

All the way on the other coast some yahoos at Evergreen State College got called to some living quarters on campus after some CO or Carbon Monoxide detectors started going off.  They turned them off and reset it.  Later goes off again, turned off and reset.  Still later goes off again, they rush to look through the window and see some people passed out.  1 died, 2 hospitalized from CO poisoning.

 

They never stopped to think gee, a CO alarm might indicate you know, carbon monoxide?  Does everything have to be a false alarm?  Ever think to call the fire department just to be safe?  Turns out it was due to a recently improperly installed tankless water heater.  Exhaust ventilation was improper and the colorless, odorless gas built up.

Well, more exciting to me than an eclipse; we should get to see a nova sometime between 

now and end of Sept. Of course, you knew this already, I'm sure.🙂

Buddy of mine had a nova, 71 with a small block. It was a nice car. 😁

I had a '64 Nova for a spell. It was not super and neither was it a chick magnet...but it

was my first car and a helluva lot better than walking.

When I was 13 or so a cousin of mine had a 64. It started off as a Granny Grocery Getter with the tried and true 6 cylinder. He shoe horned a 427 fire breathing big block in it. He took it to the drag strip and that engine had so much torque that it twisted and turned buckling the floorboards and firewall. Those were the first of the Uni Body cars. The front chassis snout literally bolted to the bottom of the firewall. He did not know that extensive modifications are needed on those when doing that type of conversion and application. He stripped it out and put that running gear back in his 55 Bel Aire. That mess sat for years behind his Mother's house in the woods. The mess was still there 35 years ago with a tree growing up through the engine compartment. I do not know now because his Mother is long passed and he passed some 25 years ago now. I do not know if his kids inherited that family farm or what

Persols are 🔥 man! I’ve got four or five frames (with old scripts in them) in my desk drawer. Couple frames are several decades old, couple are in the last few years. However….last two pair of glasses have been IC Berlin and I don’t think I can go back. So comfortable, they are a revelation.

My buddies had a 307 which in most cases was a gutless piece of crap. His was not. I can't remember everything he had done to the motor but that thing would get with the program.

A classmate of mine in high school had a 66 with a 350HP 327. That thing was a missile. Just like the pic but jacked up front and rear.
