Advantage Stenson. Phil said he got out of rhythm by trying to hit the ball too hard.

He began to press. And when he does that, no good comes of it.

Phil is fortunate not to have shot 75 today. Stenson is playing absolutely out of his mind right now. Shooting the best round of the day twice in a row is ridiculous.

Stenson can get hot and stay hot. He was pretty spot on when he won the Fedex Cup in 2013. Actually it was the 2013 Open that set Stenson off that year - he finished 2nd to Phil and then went on a tear for the remainder of the year - up to that point it was a pretty decent season but then bam - 2 Open 3rd PGA 1st Boston and 1st in Tour Champ for FedEx cup - finished in the top 3 in 5 of last 7 events.

THe biggest questions for tomorrow are, "How often will Bubba hit into the group of Furyk and Spieth in front of him?" and "How many holes will they lose on the group in front of them?" and "Will Bubba ask them if he can play through?"

The R&A will probably assign John Paramor to the Furyk/Spieth group to avoid a Monday finish.

Spieth finished his round in 3:31 today...

I was watching from a distance at a restaurant, was Stenson hitting driver on a few holes?

Yes he was. Didn't count but it was at least 3 holes. Didn't ever get him into serious trouble - believe he took it out on Par 5s where he could always recover and have a decent 3rd shot in if he missed into some junk. He definitely pulled it on 18 and put it in the right side of fairway.

I obviously would like to agree, its high time for the first central scandinavian male victory in a Major, but I would say it's the first nine tomorrow that will decide.. If Stenrik can get a 2-3 shot cushion he normally can control that down the stretch, like when he won Players and FedEx, but I cannot remember him winning a close duel. He's not a Reed, too much central scandinavian.

I couldn't believe he was pulling driver that often. Bones needs to remind him that he got to -10 by keeping his swing short on approaches and hitting irons and fairway woods off the tee.

Bones needs to give Phil's driver to Rory for an adjustment :)

Beef is a breath of fresh air. Stenson just killing those iron shots. Lasers to targets. Great sound on contact.

Phil looked tired during his end of round interview! Stenson on the other hand looked pretty fresh and up for it. Based off of that and the one shot lead, all other things being equal Stenson should be your winner tomorrow.

As we know though, all things aren't equal though. I'm hoping that Stenson can pick up the win though. His quality of player deserves a major win at some stage in his career. It might be a case of now or never for him.

I'm looking to the battle and I hoping stenson wins, but I can't help but feel Phil is going to be a bit special when it matters and win claret jug number 2!

We love the 'Beef'.

He's been brilliant! You can't help but like the guy....love his interviews, full of life and actually appreciates the fans and how lucky he is to have his talent! Pitty he's not at -8 as it would be great if the Beef won

Totally.

Can't understand why EVERYBODY isn't enthusing about this Guy.

What golf needs. Proper unbridled enthusiasm. High-fiving the fans.

I'm picking the guy that's done it before, Phil won't play as bad tomorrow. I say he goes -3 and Stenson falters down the back 9. But, even though I'm a huge Phil fan I can't be mad if Stenson wins his first. Seems like a good guy.

I think Stenson grinds Phil out front 9 and Phil drops shots on back 9 pressing too hard.

Im sure the Phil/Stenson duel will be exciting. A bit disappointed that its basically a match play tournament now, though, as the Sunday charge is always the best thing about a major. But either Phil or Stenson will be a deserving champion as they've both played great.

Im biased by being from Wisconsin, but Im blown away by what Stricker is doing. 49 years old, playing only when he wants to, and the guy is a lost ball on 15 yesterday away from probably being in solo third and in contention to win. It truly is amazing. I'll be rooting from him to get to 4th or better tomorrow, which gets him exemptions to every major next year if memory serves.

For all the talk of the "youth movement" in golf, its beyond cool to see 3 of the top 6 guys at age 40 or older (Stenson, Mickelson, Stricker).
