I've been gaming a set of 1983 Ben Hogan Personal irons for the last year, but just recently put my Hogan Apex '99 blades back in the bag. I reshafted them with Nippon Modus 130S and really like how they are performing right now.

I'm gaming a full set of 1989 vintage blue dot Ping Eye 2's, with the original ZZ lite shafts. 2-S.

This particular set is shafted with TTT Standard - also have a set of TTT Stiff

 

Wedge is in pretty good shape for its age, and have no problem spinning the ball

Ping Zing 2, blue dot, stiff shaft. Also a set of Zing 2 red dot but since I went to a vertical swing, the more upright blue dots work for me. First set of clubs I had back in the 90's was a Zing 2 clone, Tour Model III Evolution. Still have them hanging around. Arthritis in hands has me using Avon Jumbo Chamois grips, feel great.

Lol, after being Mr current equipment forever I now own a set of mizzy mp60 irons and just picked up a set of cobra s3 pro irons......these are my only sets, 2 rounds on mizzys and I can confirm nothing has changed in players cb's cept for loft......they feel amazing and are as good as my mp5, mp64 were, mp15 and 54 are prolly tad easier to hit......first time since playing golf I don't have a set of irons that are current.......

Just switched out my 1998 Ping ISI irons for 2001 TaylorMade 320 irons. Still over 15 years old. Trying a little softer shaft. Still can't see spending on new irons as both of these sets are still so nice!

I met a guy from WRX 10 years ago and we've easily played 250+ rounds together. He's playing the same Tourstage Z101 irons as the day I met him. I've gone through countless clubs and he's still playing (and scoring well with) the same set.

 

A good lesson most WRX'ers struggle with.

Hogan Apex Edge Pro, original Hogan Edge but this season using Cleveland 588Ps....slightly neater pass thru the turf than the Hogans but the Apex Edge Pros are the softest -feeling irons I've ever hit.

I understand wanting new irons. But I don't understand buying new irons with the preconceived mindset that you will only keep them for 3 years, until you buy a newer set.
