USGA Handicap 9.2

Goals For 2017: Improve Iron play/consistency. Increase flexibility and lower index to around 7

I currently play some Callaway product: GBB Drver, Xhot fairway, Apex Hybrids, MD2 wedges and Odyssey MXM Versa #1 putter.

I've never been truly fit for clubs and would love to be assessed by the team at Callaway. Maybe we can really dial things in!

Thanks for the opportunity!

2017 Goals: I want to break 80 consistently

Why I'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: because living in Minnesota makes opportunities like this extremely hard. And I'm pretty sure the knowledge at Callaway's golf center can very much push me in the right direction to achieve my 2017 goals.

Current USGA Handicap: 13

2017 Goals: To reduce my handicap to 10, To improve on consistent play by becoming more effective at yardage control, reduce dispersion and improving accuracy. I also want to dial in my wedges and scoring clubs to improve my GIR. I want to increase my fairways hit to over 60% while increasing distance.

I want to attend the Exclusive Epic Callaway Fitting opportunity for a host of reasons. One to experience the entire process that will provide so many learning opportunities about my current game and how to improve each area, To have the experience of meeting people who work hard every day to provide me with those amazing clubs. Finally to understand why the clubs fitted for my mere mortal swing will not only improve my score but the enjoyment I get from the game. Thanks to GolfWrx and Callaway for this amazing opportunity! Good Luck Everyone!

USGA index:

+1.2

Goals:

2017 will be a year in which I will really dedicate myself to getting better. My major is the Club Championship at my club. I won it in 2014 and 2015. This year, I was beaten by a new member and came in second. Going into the club championship, I was not comfortable with my driver or my putter and they ended up costing me. I ended up with 4 3-putts and 2 penalty strokes with the driver in 2 rounds (I lost by 2).

My goals for 2017 are:

1) To win my Club Championship

2) Defend my 4-Ball Championship Title (Little Brother as partner)

3) Gain some distance back on my driver and irons (through proper fitting and fitness)

Why do I want to go and be fit at Callaway?:

As I said earlier, I was shaky with my Driver and my putter during the Club Championship. I do not believe that my current driver is right for my swing, and I really want the confidence (and distance) that comes with being properly fit for my equipment. That statement goes double for my putter. We all know how mental putting can be, and a properly fit putter will take out any extra variables and doubt.

My irons and wedges have always been the strongest part of my game, especially since I put the 2013 X Forged and Mack Daddy 2s in play. There is something about Callaway irons and wedges that have always worked for me from a turf interaction standpoint. I am excited to see what newer technology can do to my game.

Like many people on this forum, I am the local equipment nerd at my course. I love all of the technology that goes into making equipment better from year to year. I am excited to see what Callaway has in store for next year and would love a first hand early look at it.

2017 goals - to break par more consistently, start contesting local amateur events.

I think this kind of fitting session, with good fitter and full range of equipment, would enable me to get the most efficient bag set up and ensure that I can get the most out of my game. I would also be very interested to see the Callaway golf facilities, some exciting golf through the winter would great.

First, I'm a gear-ho like many (if not most) of the members here on GolfWRX. As with many others, I'd love to try out new gear and think it would be a really special experience to try gear that is still in testing phase, not to mention the whole thing sounds like it would be a special experience. Second, I have actually not gone through a proper fitting for any part of my bag since 2008, which was at World of Golf in NYC which has since closed, and even this fitting was more akin to a big box-style hit some stock options to see what is "best." I still play my Callaway X-Forged 2006(7?) irons from this "fitting" and would love the opportunity to participate in a thorough fitting with today's technology, a process which can be prohibitively expensive even if it is the most important thing when buying new clubs. I'll be totally honest as well; when I was about 15-16 I was given a Callaway Big Bertha driver for a holiday gift (which I was not fit for), and did not hit it well, which was probably just me, but did lead to a slight bias against Callaway woods, even though I do still love my irons and have hit some of the newer 3 woods with some good results. I'd love for someone to change that as I do believe the best way to purchase clubs is purely on performance.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

State the goals for your golf game in 2017:

Break 85 and shoot under 85 consistently.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf:

My first set of Clubs were Callaway Big Bertha Woods and Big Bertha 1996 Irons. Over the years I have played Callaway clubs off and on. Callaway clubs have always been of the highest quality and I would like the opportunity to give the new lineup a try and see all the new technology in fitting and making golfers better. I have heard a lot of great things about Callaway's golf center and would love the opportunity to see for myself.

  • State the goals for your golf game in 2017 - As a washed up 25 year old former SEC pitcher, I have never had a ton of time to devote to practicing and playing as much golf as I would like to really compete at a high level. I have always had a great passion for the game and I feel I have some natural ability that can set me apart from others with proper input from the necessary sources. I aspire to play more tournament golf to measure myself against a benchmark and then work to fulfill my potential and optimize my game. I feel that I am capable of playing and winning club tournaments and beyond, and my ultimate goal is to qualify for the US Open through locals and sectionals. I know I have the ability to thrive in this game, but in 2017 I look forward to devoting all my time and effort to optimizing my efforts toward a singular ending.
  • State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf - Along the same lines of my 2017 goals, first and foremost, this would be an opportunity to optimize my setup with the 100% certainty that only tour pros can receive. As a higher speed and spin player, many retail items and fitting processes are geared toward the "average" amateur. Not that I have some inflated sense of myself, it is just a fact that is frankly just good business for OEMS. There are more "average" players speedwise just by definition. This fitting would allow me to really dial in distance gapping, wedge grinds, iron setup, and many other things that only true professionals that work with this stuff for their livelihood would be able to discern. I feel that the difference between good and great in golf is a vast black hole that many different minutiae account for. The key to solving the equation is to take care of as many variables as possible and to then figure out the remaining ones as you check the others off. Club-fitting is so important to make into an "independent variable" because without that being the case, then you will be making changes and compensations ceaselessly. I also have a great passion for golf clubs, as I'm sure many who apply for this do. I am endlessly amused by different components and their effect on ball flight and performance. Does a blade iron with a DGX100 fit for someone just because they check certain boxes (Swing speed, transition, etc) or are there certain nuances that might override this (feel, etc) I feel this process is as much art as it is science, and it fascinates me. I would love the opportunity to see firsthand what this process is really like at a legendary company like Callaway.

Callaway always made great clubs and I've never been fitted for clubs before. I've heard nothing but great thing from everyone who's been fitted by callaway. And really who wouldn't want a chance to get fitted by the pro's. It would make since to get fitted now that Im going to be able to play more and get lessons from a pro. • Current USGA Handicap: I do not carry an official handicap, but I would put myself mid to low 80's consistently. So, a 12 would be conservative.
  • Goals for 2017: I want to break 80 consistently, eliminate the big miss / two-way miss with my driver, and gain overall ball-striking consistency
  • Why I would like this opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: To me, this is more than about getting a custom fit, perfectly tuned set of Callaway golf clubs, or a free trip to California. This opportunity represents a chance for me to get to know my game better, to know how I can become a better player, to know about the process of club building and fitting, and finally to get to meet the folks at Callaway and see their passion for the game and their business first hand. I know that describing the event as "epic" will not be an overstatement. Lastly, I think that in follow-up to the event, my engineering background and my analytical mind would give me the wherewithal to provide a thorough, thoughtful and useful insight into the experience for those who were not lucky enough to attend. Thank you Callaway and GolfWRX for the opportunity!

My current USGA/MGA handicap is 9 and was as low as 2 when I lived in California and played more rounds on a consistent basis. I'm a bit of a tech guy and love to hit, hit and hit balls. I went from using Titlist 990's to Ping Anser Forged clubs this past summer. I loved the Callaway Apex CF16 when I hit them at a demo day and would love to see how a custom fitting would help improve my gaping throughout my irons. There is not a better place on earth to play golf than in San Diego and the nigh life (old Town & Gas lamp district for night out).

State The Goals For Your Golf Game In 2017 - Become a more consistent player is the top priority. It sounds cliche' but I have played for a long time and have not improved much over the past few years. I play a pretty strong draw (sometimes a hook) and when my timing is on, my scores show but on the flip side, my timing being off can lead to a tough day. I am above average in most parts of my game but not exceptional in any one part. I take the game serious and try to practice but my game seems to be up and down. I have lost in my club championship in both years I've played in it so a year end goal would be to win the title.

State Why You'd Want to Attend This Exclusive Opportunity To Be Fit At Callaway Golf - Callaway has been a leader in the golf industry since I started playing the game. I am only 30 years old but I can remember back when I just starting began learning how to play at the age of 10 and dying to hit the original Big Bertha. Being able to be fit by the best in the world would be a huge honor and something that could propel my golf game to the next level. Although my grandfather who taught me the game did stress that it wasn't the clubs, it was the golfer, I do believe that technology and a proper fitting can make a good player better and can ensure the misses that occur will never be club related. I had the opportunity once to be fit for clubs but it was over 5 years ago. I would love to go into the new year with a new set of Callaway clubs ready to play my personal best. I know this would be a chance of a lifetime and I'm sure that there are tons of applicants who are worthy to be picked but if I am one of them, I will cherish every moment.

  1. Break 78 - I've shot 78 a ton of times, but can't seem to break through this barrier.

  3. Break 80 at ANGC next May!

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf

Callaway led the way for technology in golf. I am a big fan of golf history and I would love to see first hand the history that exists at Callaway HQ. Each time I get to play a historic club that is steeped in history, i find myself not just enamored with the course, but all the artifacts inside the club house that made it what it is. I'm sure I could get lost in the hallways of Callaway looking at everything that has made it what it is!

The people make a company what it is and that seems apparent at Callaway. The opportunity to meet the team members and get an understanding for their daily craft in making clubs, marketing them and connecting with consumers would be a great learning experience.

Getting a set of modern clubs is a no brainer answer to wanting to take part in this. I do need a set that fits my game. I need help with the average Joe Golfer conundrums as age creeps up. Getting properly fit clubs is a big bonus and one that I see helping me to reach my goals as stated above.

However, the clubs are just that, a bonus. I connect with the brands that I buy in some way or another and would love to connect with Callaway and its history steeped in the breakthrough of technology in golf.

Thank you again for the opportunity and I hope to meet you in December!

State the goals for your golf game in 2017: First, I have some fitness goals that will hopefully enable my golf related goals. I am losing 20 pounds and working on my flexibility. My golf goals are to A) become a more consistent player. The good is really good and the bad...well...I should never shoot over 80, but I do. B) I really want to dedicate a lot of time to working on shots 100 yards and in. With the way that I drive the ball and the positions in which I put myself, I really need to become a better wedge player to take advantage. C) I want to instill certain values in my boys and golf is a platform that can be used. While my boys are young, I want to to expose them to the game and be able to play with the more, specifically my 6 -year old who might be ready to step up to our championship course.

State why you'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf: I have played Callaway off and on for years. My career low round of 65 was shot gaming a set of X Forged irons. This past year I went through a fitting for a set of Apex Pros and I have just had a difficult time liking the irons. I think that the shaft they put me in is not right for me and I would love to give Callaway an opportunity to get me set up with a set of clubs that I love. Proper equipment would also go a long way in helping me achieve my goals. Getting a complete fitting with the manufacturer has always been a dream of mine, so this literally would be a dream come true.

Thank you for your consideration.

2017 Goals: Stop being told how nice my swing looks, be told how well I score.

I practice and work on my game 2 to 3 times a week.

I play 2 to 4 rounds per week.

I just don't shoot the scores in line with the strokes I make.

My long term goal is to get to a zero handicap, which is very feasible

Why I'd want to attend this exclusive opportunity to be fit at Callaway Golf:

The previous fitting I got, at a competitor's facility didn't quite deliver. I must admit, in Québec we don't have the top notch facilities for fitting. I have achieved my best handicap using Callaway clubs, and now I'm struggling to get back there, possibly because of a wrong fitting.

I believe having the correct clubs would help me achieve a lower handicap, but especially work on my ball trajectory, consistency and not only "hit it farther"

that I actually built for me. I'm a total #'s guy and the fitting process completely fascinates me.

Current USGA Handicap: Roughly a 7 (not official)

2017 Golf Goals: 1) Play more - tough to get better when you don't play 2) Learn to be more consistent - I am wildly inconsistent, shooting 73s and 85s in the same week 3) More of a continuation of #2 but I can not hit my driver right now and haven't been able to for some time. I don't struggle with distance so using a hybrid off the tee has sufficed, but being able to hit driver would make things much easier.

Why you want to be a part of this exclusive opportunity: If every person here doesn't put free equipment they are liars! BUT, I also really enjoy learning, both about my own golf game and about the game of golf in general. I am curious to see the process of how they go about fitting for golf clubs and how it varies from what I already know.

Current Handicap: 4.2

Goals for 2017: Increase shot distance by one club length for irons and ~10yds for woods and driver

Improve scrambling and reduce average putts by 15%

Achieve sub 2.0 handicap

3 sub par rounds

Win a tournament

Why I want this opportunity: I am currently playing Titleist woods and driver, TM PSi Irons, SM6 wedges and a Top Flite putter. When I was fitted for these clubs, my swing was less refined/consistent and didn't lend itself to the most accurate results. I would like to be fitted properly for Calaway clubs to see if this is where I can get the next step of improvement in my game. I also work as a new product design engineer for a large Med Tech company so I would love to be involved in the R&D process for new golf equipment and maybe earn an opportunity to work for a premier equipment R&D company like Calaway. And let's be honest, who doesn't want to get out of Michigan in the winter to play golf!?

I'm interested in the technology that goes into being fit. How do the best players in the world get fitted for their clubs, and how that would same technique and technology would apply to my game? I'm also interested in why certain fitting specs would be beneficial for my game. It would also be cool to meet and play with other people that are as passionate about golf as I am.

Thanks Golfwrx and Callaway for putting this on. Such an exciting and EPIC event.

I don't "play" in all of the contests...only the ones I would like to win, hopefully. (LOL)

Handicap: Currently 13.5 but it is a vanity handicap

Goals: I would like to get below 10 hdcp legit

Motive: Currently play Callaway off the tee and wedges and putter. Would love to try some new gear.

Bonus points....tell Harry I'll save him some money and drive down from L.A. I'll even pay for gas.

And tell Roger Cleveland that I'll bring some B. Giacosa from my wine celler.
