My Champions Tour quest thread-update post 530

Recommended Posts

I cant be alone. I think Danielle Kang is smoking hot.

Monte - After a short (but disruptive) break, my ball flight is all out of sorts. My swing feels fine. Do you think its a bad idea keeping the swing, but adjusting grip to fix the issue. It seems like my grip/club face at address is the first thing to go, not my swing like most.

PS. In need of an AZ November/December group outing like a couple years ago.

This is a fine line, but if the grip change initiates proper swing movements, it’s great, if it’s a bandied and allows poor swing movements to continue, or increase, bad idea.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Monte, wish you success with your Q school attempt.

I know you are a big hitter, is there some sort of secret when it comes to your hips through impact? It looks like everything turns until near impact, then the hips seem to pause while the arms go way through impact, and then the hips get almost dragged to continue the turn. Is this something you want students to work towards, or is this something you do for yourself?

Holy Rory McIlhips Batman...I noticed that double barrel secret hip move also!!! Maybe I should work on that this off-season?

JK!!! Monte and thanks for your contributions here!

Hot beverage cart girls or LPGA Tour players

Well? We're waiting...

There are more hot beverage cart girls by a long shot, and that isn't saying much. Waiting on a hot LPGA tour play is right up there with waiting for Godot.

Well, I have it on pretty good authority if I post up my special pics of Suzann Pettersen again since the invocation of the new rules I'll be banned, so I'm going with hot LPGA player!

(And boy was I tempted to provide a link to some of the posts of yesteryear . . . . Games is a bad influence)!

Lexi Thompson is not bad at all...then she talks and I find she has a deeper voice than me.....I actually like michelle wie too but then again, maybe i just like tall women lol. I also echo Stezz's comments on a AZ Nov/Dec outing.

Best of luck Monte, we are all pulling for you!

Have gotten a lot of questions on how I'm doing with my game in preparation for Q-school, so here's an update.

To save some time for those who don't want to read the whole thread.

I made it through Regional stage of Q-School for Champions Tour last year pretty easily, blew out me knee, was terrible at finals, had knee surgery, was out 6/7 months, started taking full swings in July.

First stage is in two weeks. The only real negative I am dealing with is I have only played one tournament round in 2017. I'm going to play a 2 day event next week.

In August and early September, my swing/game wasn't ready to break par and I didn't want to waste $500-$800 to shoot a pair of 74's.

Had some bright spots on the trip to Scotland. October had scheduling conflicts with the few events that were available.

I have played enough tournaments in my life, this is not a legitimate excuse for lack of performance.

Below is my current swing. I'm only hitting up 1-2 instead of the 4-6 I have been in the past. Much better face/path control as a result.

Full speed...slo mo below

Well, didn’t play in the warm up tournament. Spent the day in the emergency room with a kidney stone. Fingers crossed I don’t get another.

Wow, I've heard those are painful, but I'm glad it's not anything serious. That's the upside of a kidney stone, that it's just a kidney stone.

Good luck in the tourney!

A member at a club i used to work at had kidney stones....i played golf with him as a spotter during a tournament...he started off with 3 bogeys and a double in the first 5 holes....then excused himself on the 6th tee to use a porta potty we had set up since the restroom was closed....I hear a bunch of moaning and something go "tick" in the porta potty....comes out with a huge smile and sweating like crazy "I just passed my kidney stone"...birdies 4 of the next 10 holes and lips out on 18 for birdie....places 2nd in the event lol.

Shaft more horizontal in transition, reducing handle raise at impact. Brings down AOA.

Monte,

What's your swing thought on getting it more horizontal there? I have the exact same problem right now and leading with the right elbow isn't a good thought for me.

Right now I try to start my downswing by pointing the butt of the club to the sky.

You have to be careful with this. Most people can’t do it without opening the face and dropping right shoulder and hands too much.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

but its already pointing to the sky at the top of the swing?

Not unless you have John Daly’s backswing and if it’s in context of feel a more horizontal shaft, think about it.

HaHa - just wanted to load up the clown with 30 of his friends not annihilate him!

Now, for some really weird takes on clowns see Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects and the prequel.
