If I remember correctly, I believe the back 9 is easier than the front 9. The biggest issue you'll face is course conditions, as it's been in a rather dismal financial state for almost a decade. I have heard things have improved a bit. If you can get in for under $30, it's a good deal.

Deer Creek was in good shape in the spring when I played it. Slow round though. No rangers and had to wait on almost every shot. If the tee sheet isn't full this time of year you should have a good time. As someone else said, a lot of forced carries. The majority of people bomb driver on every hole and then end up having to look for balls as many of the holes require a driver shot to hit a small area and are really designed for a shorter club off the tee.

Vanilla layout. The front is just annoying the way they designed it, but it's understandable given the type of land and the space constrictions.

 

That being said, for 30, you probably can't beat it.

Just paid $28 for Pine Creek in the Springs. Never played it, but it looks like it'll be a little more fun/enjoyable. Still one "Hot Deal" left for that time on GolfNow. If anyone wants to join up, I'm playing it at 11:15am on Sunday.

While I was definitely having a good day with the putter, it's a little skewed based on how many greens I missed. While I only hit 5 GIRs...the ones I missed were probably 2-10 feet off. So I'd have a little up & down, or a lag putt from the fringe (doesn't count as a putt).

 

Also, greens were super fuzzy and slow. I wasn't afraid to really go after lots of putts.

I haven't looked at it in a couple years, but in the past I found the time and day restrictions to be not worth it to me. Plus, I find you can oftentimes find those deals or close to them online.

i havent done it in years, but im feeling a little stale in playing the same again and again... maybe get me outta my hood. im on 24/7 for work... flipside is, i can breakaway during week. on all the time, but also flexible.

If you go to the Southwest section there is ton of information.

I can’t help much with the Scottsdale courses as I haven’t played them. They’ll also be the most expensive.

 

I fell in love with Southern Dunes in Maricopa (about 20 miles south of Phoenix), my favorite down there. I think it was mid level price. About $80. Papago and Anguilla are both both really solid city courses that aren’t overly expensive, as is Dobson Ranch in Mesa.

 

So much depends on where you are staying. Those I mentioned are mostly south and east.

Last time I went I stuck to the west side of the city and everything was cheaper that way and the golf was just as good. That would be my recommendation.

The only time I played in AZ was Camelback (both courses) in Scottsdale – some time ago. Nice courses and if I remember right the cost varied on time of day (cheaper in the heat of the day). It was pretty pricy regardless.

Southern Dunes is a new favorite of mine. Worth the drive out. Prices are usually very reasonable for what you get. Also a big fan of making the drive to Wickenburg and playing either Los Caballeros or Wickenburg Ranch. WR can be pricey sometimes but I think I played early morning last year for like $65 and it was by far the best conditioned course I'd ever been on. Los Cab is a good time as well.

Well it just keeps going. Supposed to be 58 with sun and almost no wind so gonna play Battlement again this Saturday. Got to play Wednesday before thanksgiving and last Saturday also. Greens still rolling awesome for November and the weather was wonderful.

 

Got my clubs re-gripped - excited for the tackiness as I had neglected it too long.

Only course I've played in Ft. Collins is Southridge, it was OK. Really like Marianna Butte in Loveland though.

Welcome to the neighborhood. I live up in Fort Collins and try to get out at least 1 once a week in the non-Winter Months (and whenever weather allows in the Winter).

Only course I've played in Ft. Collins is Southridge, it was OK. Really like Marianna Butte in Loveland though.

 

I enjoyed Southridge, I was with two who don't play much so we played it shorter than I normally would have, but it looks like there is a lot of difference between the whites and blues. But I thought it had some fun holes. I like Marianna Buttes a lot too.

 

In Fort Collins, Collindale is really solid. No spectacular, or real eye candy, just a course that requires good shots to score well. I think they hold a US Open qualifier there. But it's always slow there (at least for the few times I've played it).

Anyone play Deer Creek out in Littleton? Deal on Teeoff. Looking at it on Google Maps though, it looks so...just straight forward? All the fairways are almost perfect rectangles. Why is the rating & slope so high? From above, it looks like it'd be a real simple course.

It is tight. If you are a straight hitter you will not have any issues.
