Tiger Woods - Signs with TaylorMade

I like the 44.5 inches on the driver and 42.5 on the 3 wood. Has he always played at that length? Also, it looks like he's using slightly lighter shafts on those woods than in the past.

 

This is something 85% of golfers should be doing.

 

Stock 45.5" Drivers and 43.5" 3 woods hurts most swings.....it doesn't help.

 

He is quoted as saying this is the longest 3 wood he ever hit....take a half inch off it & you gain control, same goes for the driver. He was crushing it in December.....

Hmmm. This brings an interesting question to mind. Does this now mean Mr. Taylor is on TM staff. ? If for nothing else but to develop tigers irons ? I hope he is and I hope they had to pay him a lot !

 

I would love to know this. I am sure a few of the guys from here that have been to the oven multiple times and know Mike will know. Not sure if we can get it out of them :)

Email I received says woods and they will be custom making him irons and wedges to his liking. Inb4 Miura rumors.

 

which translates to a box full of taylor -made blanks have been shipped to Mike Taylor's shop so he can build tiger something identical to what he is playing now

 

Will TaylorMade sell the Tiger irons? Why sign him to a club deal if you can't sell his irons or something close to them?

 

Because Tiger can move the needle for the masses more than any other golfer currently playing. The marketing potential he represents is so much greater that IMO he'll have a significant impact even if he never wins another tournament. That said, I do think they'll offer Tiger-like clubs but it'd be interesting to see how they market them. I'm sure they can't use the TW logo.

Yep. I know he has some health concerns. Partly why I hope tiger made them put him on the payroll just for him. Nice guy like that deserves a break.

Gotta be disappointing for Callaway. They were running really strong this year. TaylorMade was getting rid of a number of its staffers and the new M2 is barely different, but the only thing that could really take away their steam is nearly a full bag deal with Tiger.

Part of me really wanted to believe that the announcement would be that his investment team was buying Taylormade. Then I thought about it for a little bit and remembered he signed the ball deal with Bridgestone. Don't think he would have signed to play golf balls for one company if he was planning on buying another that already makes golf balls.

So they signed a player to endorse a name on an iron no customer can buy? I know, I know, it's been done before........When I hear some of the stories of how picky Tiger is with gear it makes me laugh. I guess you can do what you when when your name is on top of the list.

In some threads there were guys claiming Tiger was going to play clubs for free-he didn't need the money so he wasn't going to be sponsored by anyone.
