I assume that money did play a big role in the decision. Sure, he doesn't 'need' the money, but I think signing a contract is good for his confidence. I'm guessing it's ingrained that when you show up on the first tee and the other players know you're getting paid more, the expectation is that you play better. Shouldn't matter at this stage in the game, but it's Tiger we're talking about. Being isolated from the general public since he was 20 has had a certain impact.

 

I don't think they did him any favors pairing him with the top of the TM stable in JDay and DJ. I'm envisioning him pointing to the gallery from the tee box with that new M1 driver. "Fore!"

 

I don't think it will be the fault of the driver...for the past XXX years, Tiger's been putting it pretty deep into the gallery off the tee with the driver.

 

What would impress me would be if he suddenly hit more than half of the fairways off the tee....I know he CAN get it out there a good distance, but, if he's in the short grass more than usual, I would consider that a major improvement with his game....no matter what equipment puts him there

funny how the cally shills on ITR kinda shuffled that announcement along.

 

They spent the first segment with the TM rep. Dennis really liked the KSig ball too. They are pretty fair. What I did think was funny was Dennis saying that he totally guessed that the announcement today was Tiger signing with TaylorMade. The TaylorMade rep called it the worst-kept secret in golf, yet no one had any idea that Tiger would be playing TaylorMade irons and wedges.

 

Tiger knows that he only has a few years left. Now he has to change his irons and wedges to the new ones midseason? I don't care that they will be made directly with his input, it's just risky when he's had since the August Nike announcement to get a club contract done and clubs tested.

i know...i listened to the segment, i listen to sirius about everyday at work. the amount of time they spent talking about this deal is crumbs compared to how much time they spend talking about cally stuff - rory playing the epic in SA for example. between haney and ITR it's starting to become ~3 straight hours of cally pandering.

I'm not sure the exact money but I was surprised at how low DJ was on the list in a recent GD magazine. People keep saying tmade is struggling but I think a quick look at business model and golf in general is also in play. It's certainly not an affordable game IMO. I'm really hoping a new black m1/m2 comes out for Tiger.

How can he play with TaylorMade clubs, owned by Adidas, and wear Nike clothing. Growing up, it was either one or the other in the sports world for us, not both!
