Callaway Epic Driver buyers. Love it or buyers remorse.

For those of you that actually had the chance to try it on the course already, what are your early thoughts so far, great driver or buyers remorse and wished you'd have bought something else. I know its very early for a lot of us, but those who are actually lucky enough to play now and have used it. What are your early thoughts

Only used the regular Epic for about 7 rounds. I'm still in my off season and used it on a few trips.

First thing that stands out is sound but second is the forgiveness with mishits. Times when I thought it was going to just be a spinning pop up end up being playable and have minimal loss of distance.

I'll do more testing with it when spring gets here but I'll also be able to hit it more often and get more comfortable with it.

The sound of the club????? Surprises me.

I hit 2 balls and gave it back to the fitter. Absolutely awful. Dreadful to my ears.

Different strokes for different folks i suppose....

"I enjoy the thwack" was my bumper sticker in college

Man you've got a lot of college stories that need to be told one day.

You been down by me lately? It's like 33C today

Its calling for 13 Friggin Celsius here on Saturday. That's insane for this time of year.

Nothing through Chicago lately, going to Phoenix next week though, not sure I'll get to play though

My only buyers remorse is that I didn't order it a few weeks earlier before getting a 60* weekend here.

Played 2 rounds with VNutz over the weekend and don't honestly understand why he's getting the Epic...except for the pure fact of ho-istic tendencies...said with all respect. V hit some drives this weekend that were 290 carry and backed up and there's one that I'm not sure has hit ground yet.

Im really enjoying it so far..no complaints..all the snow just melted, so the course is well saturated, so there's virtually zero roll out.

I've played the Nike Flex in years past, and that sound took getting used to as well. I saw in another post on here somewhere, where the guy put rubber spacers under the weights to change the acoustics. Like anything else you change in your bag, give it time, and it will seems normal eventually.

I played last weekend. Not with DP though. Weather was perfect. I don't even need to spray tan this month.

In the past 6 months I have extensively tried the Cobra F6, Cobra LTD, Ping G, Mizuno JPX 900, Srixon 565 and TM M2 (2016 versions); the TM M2 with Hzrdus Red shaft performed the best for me (and is still my 'backup' driver). I've played about 8 rounds with my Epic (stock Hzrdus shaft) and it performs a significant amount better than all of the others--as mentioned above, while it is certainly longer for me, the best thing about it is the distance & forgiveness on less than perfect strikes.

So I'm very happy indeed!

Really enjoying mine. Just got the Hzrdus T800 in it (had the Fuji 62) and its putting up awesome numbers.

Bomber, is that 6.0 holding up to your swing!?? Is it the 55 or 65?

55gr. - but you'd never guess it was 55gr in a million years. Feels and plays much different.

I recorded a few on the launch monitor around 118mph and it was performing incredibly well. If it wasn't labeled, I would've guessed it around a 65-70gr x-stiff shaft.

118 swing speed, 176 ball speed was my best hit - I was very surprised by that shaft. I expected to either leave w/ an x flex Rogue Max, or back to my trusty Speeder 661 X

Not sure if that weight just works w/ the Epic head, or if the T800 is just a different animal all together.

Give it a go if you ever get a chance!

I bought an Epic sz but just don't like it at all. Likes to go left far too easily for me and I just can't hit it with any concistency.

I have tried about 10 different shafts but no luck.

I also don't like the look at all. The X16 SZ was far better with it's clean lines. The Epic is far too 'busy' looking AND I hate green on a golf club.

Looks like I'll be staying with the M2 2016 this season.

I have been demo'ing the Epic for about 3 weeks now, and I am really impressed with the dispersion of this driver. I just got back from playing in Florida, and I hit a bunch more fairways than I typically do. I didn't miss a fairway on the first 9 holes, which is a first for me. I really don't think the distance is any different than my King LTD, but I am impressed with the dispersion. Mine is being built as we speak, but I am not sure when it will get here. Demo is good for now.

I've got the standard epic w/ hzrdus shaft....LOVE it. Thing is stupid long on center strikes and awesome on my heelys I tend to hit on occasion. I had an 2016 M1 that I hung on to just in case.....after 2 rounds with my epic, the M1 is gone! Epic is longer....more forgiving....sounds better ( IMO)....and more forgiving.

Haven't hit or even looked at one yet. Is the sound kind of FT3 Tour thwack, kind of like a bat but muted? Just curious, that FT3 Tour is the coolest sounding driver I own.

LOVE

Played Ping G LS before, longest straightest driver ever, for me... until GBB Epic SB and I got together.

Great feel and sound.

High launch, low spin and forgiveness.

For me 8+ more yards of carry on Trackman and real distance gains on course.

Couldn't be happier!

Going out this Saturday to use it outside for the first time. LM numbers for me are good, but I also purchased a Project Yellow for my M2, so the shoot out will be on. They both produced similar numbers, but the outside test will create the winner. All shots inside look good. LOL
