So I typically follow these weekly threads on the tournaments Thursday and Friday as I don't have cable. Just wanted a quick sense of PGA Tour Live and it's worthiness if possible. Does it seem like they are indeed improving on it at a noticeable pace. I'm tempted to try it out and at $40 it seems reasonable. Thanks and continue with play by play as usual!

 

I don't have cable either - I've had Live since last fall. I think it's great value. They choose good featured groups and the commentary is good.

On another note, has Bubba had any issues with todays wet conditions? Presumably, not. The announce crew just said he's made only one bogey this week.

Yeah, this is nuts. Dude is emotionless on the course and its awesome. I feel like he's always walking down the FW just humming or singing along, not a care in the world, wondering what time him, paulina and their son are going to untie the dock lines on their yellowfin. Man. What a life hahaha

It must suck to have 500 people a day want some sort of interaction with you, knowing that if you're nice to 499 of them, the 500th is still going to be badmouthing you on the Internet. I'd get pretty jaded, pretty quickly.

 

Most of these players are perfectly nice people but to expect them to have time for everyone, every time, is just unreasonable. Spieth isn't uncool just because he spent a full day at the course, followed by 90 minutes of media explaining why his game isn't sharp and then just wants to get in his car and go home without a chat with the parking lot guy.

 

Part of the gig though man. Nobody forced him to be a celebrity. He's not obligated to be nice to everyone just like nobody is obligated to keep their mouth shut when they had a bad experience with the guy.

 

All true (except the "man" part). However, you'd like to think that most people would understand that they're seeing a tiny glimpse of a person and not make sweeping judgments based on it. Barring puppy kicking, people seem to draw very big conclusions from a ten second interaction.

 

This is true. I have two golf buddies who hate Phil and think he is a phony. They tell all kinds of stories to support their opinions. But none of their stories can be verified.

Well, the ball did move a millimeter or so, and he didn't replace it. Clearly the not replacing of the ball would have given him a tremendous advantage.

And good reminder that even if you don't get penalized for accidentally causing ball to move you still have to replace it, whether it's 1/8 inch or 3 feet closer, which is pretty basic. Interesting the rules official observed something going on and was trying to be proactive and get up there but Hatton putted too quickly (of course, any action before calling for an official in that situation is too quick).

And we're to believe that they're trying to speed the game up? Laughable. Having said that, it was almost worth it to see Hatton walk off the front of the Green down the fairway in a huff thumping his putter all the way down the fairway. It was like a gunslinger being run out of town, and Hattons' impetuosity was so funny.

It was all a bit confusing. The rules official told Sands that he saw Hatton ground his club behind the ball, causing it to move. a simple replacement of the ball would see him play on.

Hatton told Rob lee on Sky that he accidentally caught the ball with the putter causing it to move, hence the penalty and the walk of shame.

I only saw about 45 minutes of yesterdays TV broadcast but that allowed to me hear Tom Lehman doing commentary. He was awesome. I hope he's interested in doing more.

So, now you don't want people penalized for accidentally moving the ball and not penalized for failing to replace it?

 

Maybe it's not unreasonable to give guys a break for some inadvertent movement, but I don't see why we should excuse not knowing the rules. How does a player think they get to move the ball forward but get to leave it there? Makes no sense.

 

If he weren't such a hothead he'd have recognized there was a problem.
