We played meh today. 5 birdies, but three team bogeys. Course was playing a bit tough. Greens fast. 5-under leading. We are in third after round one. More later.

 

Isaac loves lurking around the lead over the first two days, put him on your back and carry him to a win on day 3, he needs to close again!

 

With you there as his caddy, he can't miss. :-)

Obee. We did not have our best stuff today but were able to grind it out, looking forward to tomorrow.

I tell you the real winner here is the city of Portland, every time I come here it gets harder to leave, I think they put something in the water!

Me? Not good... The bad news is I only had five greens in reg and 3 Fairways but the good news is I somehow made 4 birdies .

I pray that David is kind and does not go over the hole by hole in too much detail . Let's just say it's A miracle I didn't break any windows out there. Including the derby, I was either out of bounds or within 3 yards of the property line 5 times today .

 

I'll let him go into the details about the derby but ill just say he won no less than five chip offs!!

 

I am bringing extra Painkillers for OBee tomorrow. I've been riding him like a rented mule !

I'm grinding over every shot but sometimes this game just gets you ...

OB, your team posted a solid round yesterday with some tough pin positions, what are you going to do differently today? "Well, we need to make a couple more birdies but keep the bogies off the card."

 

IsaacBM, what's your goal for today? "I'm going to try and suck a bit less and give OB even more help this round. I found something on the range last night and I'm expecting to play much much better."

 

Brandell, any thoughts on this upcoming round? "Well, OB is striping his hybrids but that's nothing new. I'm looking for Isaac to come out strong, hit more fairways and play up to his potential. I'm looking for something around a 64-65 today."

so, i would've lost that hypothetical bet yesterday of a better ball team score of 68. course was probably playing tougher than they said, especially if the lowest round of the day was a (-5). i think they do it today tho. ICBM and Obee Wan gonna set the stage for a saturday victory. rooting for you guys!

Small update:

 

We finished second in the "deck shoot-out". They had a mat on the patio and we hit across the water onto the 18th green. It was 78 yards and we had to add our total distance from the flag together. I bladed one in there to 4 feet and obee was around 12 so we got another couple hundred for the effort. Got $350 for the derby last night.

David played great today. Made a nice eagle on our second hole. He just hits it so consistently. Fun to watch. One of the other guys we played with today just qualified for the US Senior Open. He started out birdie eagle par birdie. Some good golf being played all around me. Just not by me! I got the ball in the fairway 12 times today but still only hit 5 or 6 greens. Clearly I need new clubs.

 

David will post a little video later. We got one of him flushing seven hybrid to inside of 6 feet for probably the fourth time in two days.

 

If David was playing an individual tournament this week he'll likely be in the top three or four . He brought this butcher from Canada though and honestly, it's been tough on him.

If we can just shoot 51 tomorrow we're right there!!

 

We're still having some laughs and a great time! The derby was a blast. It's just tough at times for serious tournament golfers when the golf itself isn't the best. David is a wonderful host!

I can confirm my rounds with issacbm are always some of the most fun I'll have on the course all year. Look forward to his visits each year. I've seen him switch irons from week to week and post 67s on tough courses fresh off the plane. I kinda hate him for that lol.

So we struggled a bit. Had a nice final day where we made up some ground and threatened for a top 3, but we made to late team bogeys, and fell to fifth out of 9 teams, which is not good. At all. LOL

 

I was trying to upload some photos and videos via my phone, but am having trouble. Will do that a bit later when I can do from my computer.

 

Bottom line: we had too many team bogeys. We actually made enough birdies to be competitive, but we couldn't keep the team bogeys off the card. Course was playing tough, but not that tough. We just didn't get it done.
