Player is also complaining about Langer's Champions Tour major record. Player says they should be tied. I don't care much for Player and his constant self-aggrandizement.

I didn't see this-

What's he saying?

Have a nice week Bro

Gary is upset that his 3 British Senior Open Championships aren't counted as Senior Majors but Langer's 2 are counted. Player thinks that once they decided that the British Senior Open was now a major, that those Championships he won should now be considered the same. He has a point. When Horton Smith won the first two Masters, the Masters was not considered a Major Championship. But, in retrospect, everybody credits Smith with having won 2 majors.

The 82-year-old South African strongly believes he won nine major championships in senior golf, because while official totals don’t count the three Senior Open Championships he won as majors, he does. It bothered Player when Langer’s victory at last week’s Regions Tradition was widely reported to have brought the German into a tie with Jack Nicklaus for the most career senior majors with eight. And according to friends, Player was downright dejected two weeks ago when, on the first tee of his one-round exhibition with Nicklaus and Lee Trevino, he was announced as having won six senior majors.

Boy, Gary sure does a great job of discrediting RTJ's statement that he's a show off, what with the fact that he mentions meeting Nelson Mandela, was at the Olympics, and is one of five players who have a career grand slam. Oh, wait. Never mind.

Then Natalie Gulbis has a major.... With that logic.

What was the original beef with RTJ?

I must have missed it.

Years ago, when Gary was getting busy designing golf courses all over the world, he got very frustrated with Jones for designing golf courses that equally bad to his own, taking away attention from Gary when people spoke about horrific courses

I've played a few RTJ, Jr courses that were ok. I've never played a Gary Player course that was in any way memorable.

I guess my though on this feud is.....At least they've got each other.

Maybe we can somehow get The Shark involved in their feud and we'll have all three occupying themselves and leave the public out of it.

Finally, this thread heads in a better direction. I think one of her majors is slightly more important than the other.

"Downright rejected"...poor guy...

Thank you both for taking the time to respond?

I don't understand why his three Senior Opens don't count towards his Major total, though he obviously doesn't have the "juice" that I would think that one of the "Big 3" would have with the powers that be, lol

Hell, the Haig had 5 Westen Opens, which all you "old timers" know about but for he young guys it was considered a Major and had what was considered to be the third deepest and most competitive Tourney behind only the US Open and the PGA Championship(in 2007 until it was replaced by the Masters in 1932.

It was renamed the BMW Championship and is part of the Fed Ex Championship series

Thanks again Gents?

Have a nice evening/day?

A quote from FIGgy's autobiography:

"What I have learned about myself is that I am animal when it comes to achievement and wanting success. There is never enough success for me.”

This is the final straw~

FIG's replaced Greg Norman as my most disliked Player, lmao

This Guy is incredible??

Not only will he do Anything to win, obviously including crossing the line, but he'll spare no words telling you what an animal he is??

Yep,absolutely, nooooooo doubt about it.....

FIG's a dick, lmao???

Stay well Gals & Gents?

Without saying anything about Gary Player or this letter, I think he probably feels like his career is an afterthought--a "footnote"--to Jack mainly.

Within at least American Golf/sports media, when commentators/writers look back in time, they (and rightly-so) mention Jack, Bob Jones, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, the list goes on. I can hear Jim Nantz's voice talking about "the great _____". Anyway, Gary Player's name is not often mentioned.

Like I said, not saying anything about the letter, nor the extent of his listing accomplishments in the letter.

1. Chambers Bay was a disaster.

2. Gary Player is still Gary Player and he is his biggest fan.

I was there last month ( April) and it looked so different than U.S. Open time which was also a very dry year in Tacoma. When I was there for a practice round at open it was hard to recognize it as a golf course it was like a desert scene I couldnt make out a ball at the practice range. In April I was looking at what I thought was the greatest course anywhere I have been to and walked Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes which I thought fantastic but they are not in the same league as Chambers Bay and to look at the course from above on the park walking trail and seeing golfers taking it on was like seeing a gift from the Golf Gods " Here you are lads, Enjoy"

He left out how many sit-ups he had done while writing this.

????

He can't just state that he was at a function honoring his grand slam achievement???

He's then gotta drop that he's one of five guys in this "club"??

Oh Dear Lord, then Gary Friggin Player gives Jones advice on not being bitter & vengeful????

I'm sorry Sweetie, he's a lil dick??

Nice call G&F?

My Best?

RP

This from a man who used to frequently used to use the sickly sweet, that even Jim Nantz would think twice before saying it. "Golfingly Yours" on every single post. What the bloody hell does Golfingly mean, anyway?

Gary is one of the all time greats. On the occasions I have met him he has always been very pleasant no I have enjoyed his golf course designs...something I cannot say of Mr R. T. Jones.

short people and their insecurities ...

Do you have a problem with short people, or the fact most of us are insecure about our height? Maybe it is because society values height, and most good looking women on dating sites indicate they don't want to reproduce with someone shorter than 5'10", yet would rather go out with an 8'11" giant. Yup, most women on match.com by saying that would rather go out with someone who doesn't exist (worlds tallest person is not 8'11" and is female with medical condition), than go out with someone 5'8".

Or the reason taller people get better treatment in society, and more respect.

Are you too insecure to feel comfortable being insecure about something?

Calling a short person insecure about height is about as bigoted as it gets. Do you use racial slurs, and that kind of thing? I bet you hate short people, and are secretly glad you are taller. I implore you to keep your thoughts to yourself on this topic, however, out of respect for other human beings whose bones are simply not as long as your's.

Height is a vestigial trait, largely, since we no longer do battle with animals to be able to eat and survive. Taller people are more metabolically-inefficient than short people, consume more food and water, etc.

And you know what, if short guys are gonna get ridiculed and trivialized by society, then short women should too. After all, tall women back in the day of hunter & gatherer culture would be able to emerge from the caves and gather more berries, apples, and water than the short women. So how dare men give them a chance?

There's just no need to remind short people of how people like yourself feel.

The word "insecure" is a cliched term. It's freaking bush-league, too.
