I had a different take on it when I first hear news.....

 

Couple weeks ago Phil had lead or was near lead and he felt really weird and got nervous like a rookie and didnt like how he felt...he talked bout it afterwards. It sounded very strange when he was talkin bout it cause you'd figure that would be Phil's strength of his game. I thought split had something to do with this because recent issue....maybe Bones wasn't able to help redirect Phil back to his happy place when he was leaned on. Plus I had a feeling Phil didn't mind missing the Open cause of this issue...which was my first thought when I heard he was skipping Open.

I could see a move to Rahm. My buddy and I have been texting since it was announced. I offer three alternatives to Rahm. Daniel Berger and Wes Bryan. Both on the doorstep just need a little more motivation and experience. Long shot would be a Kevin Tway (could be biased, I'm a fan). Spieth, Fowler, and Thomas are too close with their guys.

They had some interesting interactions at the Players. On 17 Phil was pretty short w him. Perhaps Bones got a little too comfortable giving his opinion, and because they are friends it was perhaps difficult for Phil to put him in his place.

Ive taken lessons with Getson before he started working for Phil but now he is difficult to get time with.

All great partnerships end. Been a fantastic run arguably the best pairing ever this side of Woods-Williams.

Back in those days caddies didn't travel all over the country or world like they do now.

 

In the US Open you were assigned a local caddie, Nicklaus had a local gym teacher caddie for him at Pebble in '72, he basically was assigned to Jack in a random drawing. I read a cool article about it a few years ago.

The Masters you were required to use a ANGC caddie

The Open, too expensive for them to travel so you had a local you used.

 

West coast swing or Hawaii? probably not, but maybe if you were Jack.

 

Back then caddies mostly stuck to the 3 essentials. Show up, shut up and keep up. There were exceptions such as Angelo and Herman with Trevino.
