Lots of really good young players are coming on Tour right now, and these caddies dont want to lose their place in line.

 

Phil will have no problem finding a new caddie...but I wonder if he's now going to start scaling back his schedule a bit, a la Steve Stricker. For Phil, its all about the majors now, and perhaps he's no longer going to play a full-time Tour schedule.

Couple of weeks ago, they ended a round barely even looking at each other. It was uncomfortable enough that Phil had to answer a couple of question about it. They may have ended the professional relationship in order to stay friends. Amy and Bones' wife are close and it may have been getting awkward all the way around.

 

Regardless, I find it kind of depressing. Watching Bones gimp around on those new knees is kind of depressing, too.

Maybe Phil feels like he can win with his brother on the bag just as much as he can with anyone, Phil and Rahm are friends, Phil sees Rahm's potential, Phil wants to take care of both is friends, so he and Bones split up to allow Rahm and Bones to join forces.

 

Phil will go down as one of the best to play the game even if he never wins again. This would allow Bones and Rahm to work together for what will most likely be a long and successful career.

I saw this too, but didn't think much of it at the time. Hopefully they really do remain friends. Golf shouldn't get in the way of that.

Was thinking the same, though having Bones on the bag may be a good calming influence on Rahm.

Sad to read this news. They were the poster children for a successful player/caddie relationship. Can't say this bodes well for Phil this late in his career as a great player needs a great caddie/friend. Maybe because Phil's brother is the agent for Rahm, maybe Bones will be caddying for him now to calm that firecracker down, I guess if Bones's knees will hold up? Bummer.

yup this is good stuff. phil has his mind made up on the shot at the 0.05 mark of that clip despite bones being a bit nervous of the wind. bones sounds like a total golf nerd in the clip haha (one of the best golf nerds ever btw)

 

and it's just excellent how bones slowly slides a ball out of his pocket and hands it to phil when he requests a new one
