Will Jordan pass Jack?

i cant believe people are not reading the OPs actual question and answering blindly "no way Jacks 18 is not reachable!!" lol. Brilliantly executed ruse

I find it scary, given the fact that these people are all allowed to vote.

In a quest to be first rather than right is a symptom of todays world. Hot takes for the sake of hot takes but they never read the topic question....

To be fair, the question is "Will Jordan Pass Jack", then the OP asks about 2nd place finishes, but THEN asks if Jordan will be GOAT. GOAT certainly implies winning, not 2nd place.

I guess well see in 20 years if he is close.

But thinking about how long that is and how many 10-15 year old right now are practicing like never before with plans to eat his lunch.

If I was a betting man I would say no. I would say he has a chance if he can stay healthy.

For the record, jack was in the hunt in every single major for the entirety of the 1970s...

5 times he didn't have a chance to win...

That is absurd...

Love ur op premise btw

Jack could've won 40 or 10 but he won 18....

This should explain the absurdity of how dominant jack was...

It is almost offensive to be that good...

-Chris

If Jack were "lucky" he would have won the Open 10 times.

What I find more amazing than that is that most are allowed to get behind the wheel of a vehicle, reproduce at will and Play Mizzys if they so choose....

He is on his way to becoming one of the game's great gentleman, and exemplars of class and what golf likes about itself-- respect, tradition, etc.

That Jordan flew home to Dallas to his parent's house (arriving with the Claret Jug st 4:30 am) after the Open Championship was a refreshing breath of fresh air. A 23 year old with a private jet, a 1.8 mil prize, and the world by the tail could have done a lot of things and gone a lot of places. (Going home to mom and dad is not something a 23 year old me would have done:)

My thinking is wherever he ends up numbers wise, he will go down with Jack or Arnie as beloved statesmen of the game. I know that's a lot, but I guess what I am seeing is grace and class combined with an ability to capture the moment.

Yes .........if he can stay out of the Waffle Houses.

I hate cheap shots at Tiger, but there's truth in the essence of this post. History is flooded with guys who get really, really rich and it changes them. Jordan Spieth doesn't strike me as the type, but having incredible wealth and influence can change a person.

For the record, as sad as Tiger's personal life became, I don't think anyone could have handled "Tigermania" any better. It was/is insane. Tiger's life sucks. There's not much to enjoy about life when you quite literally have zero privacy. The guy has to live a forced agoraphobic lifestyle.

Maybe we as humans can learn our lesson and start treating "celebrities" with some basic respect. Also, for those of you who think Jordan has a much different head on his shoulders than Tiger, read stories about young Tiger Woods. He was a "better person than a golfer". Jordan will have to actively fight off some of the allures that come with being rich and famous.

Former professional golfer. Current amateur human being.

The comparisons to Tiger Woods/Jack Nicklaus, given his age, are inevitable.

Hopefully Jordan is smart and doesn't make the following mistakes:

1. switch equipment, particularly a switch that includes the golf ball

2. listen to any teacher on the planet that wants him to rebuild his golf swing... ever

3. put his personal life before his golf for at least 10 years (sorry girlfriend, peace out)

If he can follow those 3 simple rules... he can make a run at accomplishing some seriously rare things in golf that are among only a handful of players.

4. overtrain and / or suffer chronic injury
