Epic is out...enter the Rogue

Callaway releases a new club within 6 months that isn't going to change anything besides maybe an extra yard. They are making me despise them like I do Taylormade. No thanks.

Did you read grm24's post on page 4? I suggest you do, summarizes what I was about to type perfectly.

Did you just come out of a coma LOL? Callaway has been releasing as much if not more product as TM for at least the last 6-7 years. They simply get criticized for it less than TM does. Personally I love all of the choices that both TM & Cally have provided. They both make great gear that fits a wide range of players.

Like new may be new. As others had already noted, the use CPO to liquidate excess stock, etc...

In my experience "Like New" means new, and "Very Good" means somebody might have used it as an in-store demo once but you probably can't tell. CPO seriously under-rates condition.

I’ve purchased about 10 “Like New” from CPO.

7 were still in the plastic but you could tell it was likely sent back to Callaway from a store as the plastic wrap was torn in spots.

The other 3 clubs were likely never hit but had noticeable scratching on the crowns. So they went back.

I've had the same experience. Purchased a few things off there that said they were in "good" condition and received them and they look brand new. I couldn't even find any marks or issues.

I bought some CPO clubs and when they arrived it looked like the previous owner was hitting rocks with them, hitting off the cart path, etc. The description said "no dents' - but they were in horrible condition. However Callaway made it right and sent me a set that were in very good condition to replace them. The shipping dept never should have sent the crappy set in the first place.

Not to derail the thread with more CPO talk but I find that if you buy a like new club in the stock combo you get a better shape club. Say 9* Stiff, 10.5* R flex, 13.5* A flex etc you’re more likely to get a club new in package. It’s the odd combos I had trouble with. Like a 13.5* with Stiff shaft.

Well stated and I agree.

I've said it before but how can you say "they are making me despise them" when they haven't even launched a new wood line or even said any word about a potential new line? Everyone here is posting thoughts about something that a rep is showing accounts but no one knows when it's being released or exactly what it is replacing. It could be a product for January or February which is 3 months from now? how do you know it will only bring you 1 extra yard? Maybe whatever they bring to market could increase distance for you by 5 yards or tighten dispersion by half. Why not wait until launch to make a decision on a club you and half the people here have never seen in person much less actually hit?

Saw the product today and it replaces the epic line. They are keeping the standard epic head in the line for people who want more adjustability. The new line is solid. Love that the fairway woods are bonded and they feel great. He said everything launches on Feb 15. They are just now seeding on tour so should start to see pictures soon.

It's an interesting market because you have the players segment and the majority public players; God bless them.

I applaud Callaway for entertaining both segments with quality products which is difficult to pull off.

For example, I like Mizuno MP irons but I think their driver and woods are garbage. TM, just ugly and I wouldn't think twice if touching.

Callaway has struck a chord a nostalgia and hook me back with their steelheads and epic drivers; cheers!!!!!

Can't seem to find it now, might have been in the other thread too, but didn't someone say that they found Callaway filing for rights to the XR-18 name and Rogue is just one of the 3 version names? Rogue is basically the sub-zero version with a front/back weight, another with heel/back weights for what they're calling a draw set-up and one that might be a single weight, with no slider as the largest, most "forgiving"?

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Just trying to recount what I remember reading.

Consider yourself corrected., or at least wrong.

Will they be keeping the Epic SZ in the line for 2018?

Callaway does own the trademark rights to the names I’ve outlined above, but speculation at this point seems to show them moving another direction. Until they file abandonment of the trademark or release an official statement I’m holding out and hoping these new driver offerings are re-vamped iterations of the XR line.
