Im not crazy long either. I hit only it 240 on a good day.......with 3 iron

A 98 mph 3 iron should equate to a 225 carry.

Machine is not 100% accurate. I did 230+ on a trackman with it though

Hitting it past 300 is not that rare. Did it all the time about a decade ago and earlier. Now the best I can do was yesterday at my new club one-hopping them into the fence/net at the back of the range at 275.

But only with a 10mph tailwind. :D

I know how you feel. On the plus side, now several of the real trouble spots are out of reach for me

Why is it no matter the topic most of the posters claim they hit 300 plus off the tee. I'm not saying they don't but here in the metro area of NY where their is way too many golfers I have only seen a hand full hit it 300 yards. No matter where I have played . How come on the forum everyone claims they play like a pro. I don't believe most of them
l can hit it 300 yards down an aircraft runway so I tell people I can hit it 300 yards but if you don’t ask me where I won’t tell you lol

I got outdriven once in my round yesterday, and have been doing pushups basically non-stop since.

Say it isn't so!

My 18 year old nephew won the long drive hole this weekend at our companies annual 4 man scramble. 354 yds. GBB with a stock Speeder 665 S.

I told him he needs to get on GolfWrx and start working some passive brags ... or it didn't really happen.

  • 3 weeks later...

Only ever hit 300 yards on a complete downhill slope hole at my local course a couple of times (299 Yellow, 305 White) when the fairways is very hard, played with plenty of low handicappers on the same hole and very rarely see anyone drive it. Actually did it tonight and dropped off the back of the green so entire carry was probably 315. On average I'd probably hit 220 with my driver

Funny how EVERY time I go to my local driving range, NO ONE hits the 300 marker, or even gets close

I was at the range last weekend. The guy behind me was hitting 7 irons...not bad shots. I was also hitting 7 irons and I had prior lasered the range flag we were aiming. I heard the guy say "gee these new balls are great...I'm hitting my 7 iron 190". I was hitting my 7 irons past his. The actual distance was 167. I wanted to say something but why get annoyed.

Its not worth it. One of the worst conversations I overheard by a teaching pro was "Oh yes you should be carring that 7 iron 180 easily." The guy just kept swinging harder and harder after the lesson ruining any chance he had of gaining anything from the lesson. On a good day he would get maybe 160 out of that club. I just shook my head and went back to hitting balls.

A "lesson" in why many pro's have no business teaching...we all know they couldn't make the "cut" to get on tour...so teaching is a 2nd choice...not ALL...but enough.

On the driving range.... I am pretty sure I can hit a few out to the 300 yard marker.... I'd say my average is some where between 250 to 275....

On the course lol.... I'd be happy to hit the ball 250 yards and straight... some how my skills on the range do not translate to the course...

I've had a few times when things did click and I smoked a couple balls on the course... not sure how far they went, but I know they went far cuz the guys in the group was even amazed that I put a ball out there that far... but it's such a rare instance that I just try to hit the ball in the fairway

Saturday, in a Publinx match I hit a 428 yard drive down the middle on a 600 yard par 5 and then stuffed an 8 iron to 3 feet from 178 and made eagle. Once I rolled in the eagle putt, my teammate on the next tee informed me that he just made eagle also by killing his driver and ripping a 3 wood bouncing it up the front of the green. No skin on that par 5... pffft

As posted previously, I do NOT hit it 300 yards. But, I played last Thursday with my buddies grandson. The kid is just starting out in the game. He has a total of 9 clubs in his bag, including a driver made for an 85 MPH swing speed.

Short story, after topping them on the first four drives, he ripped one into orbit. It was long and to the right (like a banana), but it got my attention. I then let him hit my fairly stiff driver and the first try he it over 300, straight as an arrow. Then he did it again. I let him use my driver for the entire back 9. I measured his drive on the 10th hole with my rangefinder and it was 322.

I was impressed. Last year I played with a father and son in a pick-up game and that kid had the raw talent thing too and could bomb them pretty close to 300.

I'd give up 15 feet of made putts per round for 10 extra yards

I would venture to say....you might lose more of your bets!?

Me, ld give up 10 yds, to make 15 more of putts.

Maybe but probably not. That extra distance would allow for closer approaches and open up opportunities to reach more par 5s in two. (Assuming no loss of accuracy). The game nowadays is through the air, American tournament golf anyways, the farther it goes in the air the more scoring chances you will have.

I can make a bad putter decent enough to win. I can’t make a short hitter longer.
