How do the finishes on these wear? I want a ZB in bronze, but the used bronze and black putters I’ve seen all look very rough. The used silver ones all look great.

See my post from earlier...I ordered a black ZB and received it directly from PING. Although small, mine came with 2 scratches where you can see silver through the finish. I sent it back to PING to be replaced. Any marks will show clearly on the Stealth.

Saw a Dale Anser in silver that did not have a site line.. all the others did. Do they come both ways, or is this a find?

Saw a Dale Anser in silver that did not have a site line.. all the others did. Do they come both ways, or is this a find?

I was told that a couple of months back that it was not an option to order the Dale Anser without a sightline. I was very disappointed. But last week, I contacted Mortons again and 2nd Swing and they both said that I could order the Dale Anser in stealth, platinum or copper without the sightline.

As I was initially informed that you cannot order it without a sightline, I bought the stealth Dale Anser with a sightline last month. I mentioned on a different thread a few days ago that I found that I putted better with my TR Anser 1966 against the Dale Anser but as it turned out, I was just way too focused on the sightline. I think a good few people have this issue too. I covered the sightline up with black tape and I was instantly rolling it better as I was no longer obsessing over the direction of the sight line. The putter looked less attractive with the tape but I aim much better with a naked head using the parallel lines of the face instead of a horizontal sightline.

Sorry, I am going a little long winded here. It seems that the custom order of no sight line is now more widely available and I for one, am very excited about it. My naked Dale Anser stealth in 35 inches with the standard weights, 4* loft and 71* lie angle should be with me by early next week.

I received my Vault 2.0 ZB Stealth late last week. It's a beautiful putter with great balance. Unfortunately, when unboxing the putter, I noticed a small chip or scuff on the heel of the putter where you can see a bit of "silver" coming through the finish. I also found another faint scratch with the slightest bit of steel coming through. Although the marks a very small, for a $300 premium milled putter, I expect it to be flawless out of the box.

I went back and forth on whether or not I should exchange the putter, and, today, I decided to take it back to Golf Galaxy. We contacted PING who asked us to send them the putter to examine the damage. Now I'm in a waiting game. Needless to say, I'll be extremely upset if they refuse to exchange the putter, especially considering I just invested in the i500's and Glide Forged wedges.

Again, I realize the marks are small, but for a premium price, I expect a flawlessly crafted product.

I understand your desire for a perfect thing, but given that's all that was wrong and it's possible to have that same occurrence in the course of play, is it worth it? I don't think it would be to me.

I appreciate your opinion. I have always been meticulous about my clubs. I like when they show some wear, but I expect them to be flawless when I buy them new. There is another scratch on the opposite side of the heel as well as a small nick or dent on the ridge. Again, I realize these aren’t major defections, but when paying a premium price, I expect a club in premium condition.

I took my Dale Anser to a store last week to have 1/2” cut off so that I could then install a Flatso. I watched the guy layout down on a metal yardstick to measure and mark where he would cut it, and I cringed immediately. I allowed him to continue on but when he handed it back to me I immediately noticed a very small scratch on the face at the very end of the toe.

The reason I cringed when he laid it down is because I had this exact same thing happen with a Toulon Memphis about 6-8 months ago. Prior to taking the Anser in that day I literally thought about wrapping the head in shrink wrap, something that I will be doing in the future. In each case the putters were brand new, as in never having touched a blade of grass.

Fortunately, in both instances, even though they probably thought I was nuts, the putter was exchanged for another one free from any marks. I freely admit to being very neurotic, so personally I don’t blame you at all for feeling the way you do.

I really appreciate the post, and I completely agree. If I wanted a putter with a couple scratches, I would’ve saved some money and bought a used club. If the marks would have come from the course, I’d have no issue with it, but this was right out of the box. I hate this waiting game. I’m not sure what I’ll do if they tell me they won’t replace it. I know I sound like a broken record, but I paid for a brand new premium putter, and A brand new premium putter should be free of any defects out of the box.

I have a copper Dale Anser and a ZB stealth. The stealth has been used for 10 rounds and it still looks new, so after 200 puts or so, its looking great. Same with the copper. no issues whatsoever.

To GeargiaLefty. Why not simply order one online and return the damaged one? I doubt anyone would even notice the slight damage.

He should just return it. Ping will replace it and they even have a returns room for items like that or misorders that they then sell to employees and friends and family of employees for employee cost.

The putter has already been shipped off to PING...it may already be there. When I took it back to Golf Galaxy, I expected them to say, “No problem. Just ship the putter back to us and we’ll have a new one on it’s way to you.” However, all I was told is that PING wanted me to send them the putter so they could examine it. Now I have it in my head that there are going to say something along the lines of, this is normal in the manufacturing process, or these marks are too insignificant to justify sending you a new putter. Regardless, it came out of the box with the marks, and however insignificant they might seem, it didn’t arrive in mint condition as it should have.

Very nice

I too had called Seannie at Morton awhile back and no dice on the naked Anser

then I found out a little later it was an option in the stealth

great to hear it's now available in the platinum

now if only putting in a sound slot was an option

maybe that will change as well, cause last time it was no way

How sexy would a black shaft look in that black ketsch.

I wanna order a new custom Ketsch 2.0 to upgrade mine. I know they make vault counter balance grips but I haven't seen anything online about the 2.0 ketsch in a heavier weight for the counter balance?

Sadly, my honeymoon with the Dale Anser is almost over. Had a couple of bad putting rounds with it and put the cameron NP back in play. I'm thinking even with the heavier + weights, it's still not heavy enough for me. Of course, it's never the Indian.

Trying to decide to either return it for store credit or throw it on BST. Such a ho ...

Love that Anser without any lines - it is beautiful.

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
