New Ping Vault 2.0 putters (thanks, tod071)

IDK, I really like mine so far... the feel right off the rack is really nice. If I like the way it feels now, I have no reason to change the weights. I would not go into any piece of equipment with the mentality that I would want to alter it before trying it anyway, but that's me. I have multiple Scotty's with the weights and have only thought about trying a different weight set-up one time. I can't see Ping not releasing a kit for these after some time or at least making the tool and weights available but if you already know what weight you like, why not just order it that way? I like to tinker as much as anyone but writing these putters off over this is unfortunate for you.

 

I think you misunderstand. You can't order it the way you want. That's what I am being told. You can only order it with the standard weights.

 

If thats the case, it makes no sense and would agree thats pretty dumb. It just doesn't seem realistic that Ping would make you buy it stock then send it in for weights which they would have available. I know some of the finishes are custom order only, seems a good enough time as any to change out the weights....

 

Yes. I wanted to order a Ketsch with tungsten weights. They said I had to order stock weights and wait to receive it. Then, I had to ship it back for them to change the weights. Then, they ship it back to me.

 

They must be wanting to make money on changing weights but I was willing to pay anyway.

 

I hope he's wrong. He is checking with Ping tomorrow.

That doesn't make ANY sense.

 

The putters are fairly new, is there any chance they just don't have the tungsten weights produced and in hand yet? Maybe that's why you would need to send it back? IDK, definitely seems inconvenient if this is the process for anyone buying the 2.0s and I could see this deterring people.

If someone posts clear proof of Ping saying you have to order a stock putter, receive it, then send it back to them to put weights in, I'll switch my whole fkn bag to PXG.

My Golf Town rep called and apologized. He was wrong. You can order any weights you want.

 

I got all excited for nothing. Placed my order for a Ketsch with PP58 grip and heavier tungsten weights. Looking forward to rolling it.

I just got a response from Ping.... It is true that if you order stock weights you will have to send it in to have them changed, BUT you CAN order the putter with different weights... So, it would seem that even though you can order with different weights, you'd still have to send it in to be changed which does kind of suck. I like mine so it doesn't matter but I can see how it is a little inconvenient for those that want to tinker a bit. Hopefully this will change at some point.

I can’t get these putters off my mind! My putting has been atrocious for months. Went to the local shop this weekend intent on buying a mallet of some sort (Spider Tour, #7, etc.). Putted for a good hour on the practice green with a bunch of different options and didn’t get on with any of them. Grabbed a black Dale Anser at 35” and just started draining putt after putt. It got comical to the point I swear I could have made putts with my eyes closed. The thing just swung itself. Didn’t pull the trigger but I’m going to. I think.

I’ve fallen for that trick waaaaaay too many times!! Ha Ha!! Every time I do, the putter giggles and smirks its way though our first round together to the tune of about 38 putts!!! There’s something cathartic about slamming a brand new $300 putter back into the bag after yet another 3-putt, though!!!

Just heaviest weights (tungsten), 36” black shaft, old school Ping grip, copper paint wherever possible to match weights.

 

I requested all the paint to be copper but apparently the sightline and Ping in the cavity had to remain White. Anyone have suggestions on getting taking out the paint without messing up the beautiful finish?

Ping continues to miss the boat on their newer putter lines with, in my opinion (and many others) a horrible stock grip that kills the feel.

Having seen these in person now, I can say these are every bit, if not more, as aesthetically appealing to me as the PLD...although I could do without the "dale" "anser" on the bumpers but that's just being nit picky.

I agree. Even Ping fell into the idea that a SuperStroke style grip was somehow a good idea. FAIL!!

I tried them with stock grip and chrome soft and thought it felt great. I was making a lot of putts trying out the Dale anser 2.0. I put one on order. Wish I would have gotten the black shaft. Wish I would have seen the one up in the thread before I ordered mine. Hope he doesn't mind if I copy his lead, trying to change my order.

The old school grip definitely adds to the classic putter but it adds so much feel.
