I posted a few pages back saying that I was looking forward to the day Smylee won again... I’m starting to think his days as a pro are short. Not sure how realistic it is to expect come backs from ‘normal’ pros after a prolonged and lengthy loss of game. Tiger made his comeback but he’s not normal. Smylee and YJS are knocking on the death-door of golf.

While YJS has struggled since his last win on the PGA Tour in 2017 he is nowhere close to how bad Smylie is currently. YJS is still top 50 in the OWGR and is exempt on tour for 3+ more years. SK is 1,539th and has zero status on any tour. YJS as bad as he played in 2019 was still top 50 in the FEC. BTW there is a player on the PGA Tour that was playing as bad as Smylie the last few years. Said player, Brendon Todd, won back to back events on the PGA Tour this fall and was close to a three peat. Phillly Mick is currently ranked lower than YJS in the OWGR by 21 spots. Guess Phil is on golfs death door as well. So many dumb and bad hot takes gets posted here by people that actually have no idea of what they are posting about.

So, why is Smylie Kaufman such a viral pro to slam? He has had an elbow injury that made him get a major medical exemption. I can attest that elbow injuries are no joke when affecting golf negatively. I used to be a 2 handicap and have had elbow tendonitis badly last few years. My golf game has fallen off the planet. It wreaks complete havoc on your golf full swing.

There are dozens if not hundreds of pro players that are in the same situation as him. Where their games were at a high level and they have declined substantially. Tiger Woods game fell off the planet as well. If it can happen to him it can happen to anyone.

Brendon Todd is 63 in Official World Golf Rankings. He sits solidly on the PGA tour with that ranking. That is very good. To me, anybody that is making a living playing professional golf on any of the tours are phenomenal golfers. Competition is ferocious and talent is super deep. The Korn Ferry tour has a ton of multiple PGA tour winners and some major winners on it.

It's just a bit ironic for a guy named Smylie. But yeah, I'm rooting for the guy. These guys are really good, and it's often a fine line between on tour and not when they have the talent level.

Smylie dominated holes 5 and 18 yesterday. I look for him to continue that fine play and shoot in the 59-62 range today depending on wind conditions.
