Maltby TS2

I have never played blades before but I play the TS-1's. Everything about them works for me. What would be the difference to me as a golfer with the TS-4?  A solid forging verses the hollow body would do what?  The MPF rating will probably come in about the same as the TS-1, so forgiveness is not the answer. Is it a feel difference or an actual performance difference between the two?  Can anyone who can play blades well answer?

Can you feel the difference between your PW and 9-iron?

This will be tough to answer till they actually come out. By the nature of the TS-1 being a hollow forging they should be a lot easier to hit all over the face. The TS4 might be less tolerant of that same all over the face. But with the forgiving sole grind the TS4 should be very playable. Still you have to wait till they arrive.

Reminds me of something Ralph said when the cost of steel shafts passed $25, there is nothing any steel shaft can do that is worth $30.

These ts2s look nice. I asked the seller length and he confirmed the 5 iron is 39 inches and the wedges 36.5.

Too long for yours truly.

I was having a blast this week giving the new 105g shaft a work out. I was using a TS-2 6 iron head.

It's just amazing the distance you can get out of these TS-2 long irons. Plus yah gotta love that launched off the face-crushed it feel.

This combo was good for consistent 205y shots on very aggressive swings. A steady smooth swing was 196-197.

Always a fun club to pound away on.

Ahah I saw Thosse. KBS is a weak flex relative to others especially in PT.  + 40 shipping charge is terrible unless your over nighting. UPS is 15 dollars for 10# from NYC to LA

Yeah, I saw that $40 shipping. If I was going to offer, I'd just make an offer which contemplated the ridiculous $40. If I wasn't successful, no loss as others will come up. One thing I learned about ebay, one has to be patient (which ain't easy for me).

Yea I would need too much workc( new grips , lie up 1.5 , ) to make it work. Basically at a new price by then

Maybe if you are on some sort of high volume commercial account?  But not for ordinary consumers.  I’d like to be wrong.

I think the DBM heads I bought may have more use than I thought. The leading edge is kind of shiny although the grooves don’t show any wear.

Post some pictures.

On those heads the leading edge is relatively sharp. So it's taking the full force of the swing over and over as it meets turf.

The DBM finish will Grey with wear. So in those heads that's the very first spot to show play.

As for the lack of face wear.. which is one of the huge benefits of this finish.. they almost never degrade. It takes a boat load of play before they show wear unless you are in a very sandy area.  Even then they start to show a Grey patina.

So long story short it's near impossible to know how much those heads have been played.

I agree with Popeye the finish gets a silver like finish in the sole and leading edge that adds to the character of the irons like an old Belgium Browning over under, love that look with all the performance of like new grooves. I would like to add it has been fun reading everyone’s posts about the new iron designs love to catch up on the Maltby buzz here. Happy New year!

I thought it was like the change in chrome heads after they have been used a few times. As you can see it is just as you guys have described sort of a shiny gray edge to it.
