I would pay to watch a rematch of Els vs.Marino on a G5.

Or maybe have a few matches on various private planes...

1. Bradley vs. Jimenez on a Cessna Citation

2. Vijay vs. Phil on a Boeing Business Jet

3. Kang vs. Dahmen on a Southwest flight (they can't afford private, can they?)

I'm sure they're are many others people can come up with...I don't know all the dirty laundry and rivalries on tour!

now we're getting somewhere ...

i would take the mechanic any day over a guy that travels with his miniature whatever in the car ... as for vijay/phil, what type spikes are involved? ... and kang has spent 2 years in the korean military, which i doubt is a pleasant journey (at least the training bit), so he'd whip dahmen's butt since he knows some deceptive tactics ...

If it does happen they should pull out all the stops and play at either Pine Valley or Cypress Point.

I think that a course/resort willing to pay a significant amount for the publicity would have to be part of how they would get to $10M.

How else are they going to get a major-level purse for a one day exhibition?

The 10 mil will come from sponsors. Balls, clubs, cars, the usual, will all advertise in this made for tv event.

Ha, nice!

I think Poults mooched a ride off TWs jet once

"In excerpts released on Tuesday, Haney claimed Poulter got on Woods' nerves when the American-based Brit was "cheeky enough to ask Tiger: 'How are we getting home?'" after both finished practising at Oakmont shortly before the 2007 US Open.

According to Haney, Woods did not offer Poulter a ride on his private jet, but alleges he turned up at the airport nevertheless, prompting Woods to send Haney a text message which read: "Can you believe how this d*** mooched a ride on my plane"

He should send Tiger one of those CoolSculpting things. That would make things "even."

I don't think there's enough interest to raise $10 million.

I don’t care how much money you make. 10 million dollars is is still 10 million dollars to anyone.

Neither one of these guys has a concept of what $10 million really is. It’s a play thing for them, like giving your dog an expensive chew toy.

If it was their own money they’d care, trust me... And also trust me that they both want to win that 10 mill too. They aren’t multi-billionaires.

It’s not their money, that’s only blatantly obvious.

Sure, but I think those are small deals compared to being the host course. For the right resort or real estate play, this could be a huge opportunity. With all the dead time between shots, they could essentially make the broadcast a 4+ hour infomercial for the place.

(and continued exposure via an edited 1 hour show released on Netflix)

I think they need an angle like this to get to $10M.

I love how the Pga tour is trying to convince us to care about this! :D

It's painful ain't it?

This has that the feel of something you should care about, too.

Can we just do an MTV Cribs with Tiger Woods? I'd watch that.

I would love for them to put up the pot themselves. Wasn't it Tiger that said he would play for whatever amount that makes Phil uncomfortable?

No way they play for own money. I’m sure they are figuring out how to make a lot more behind the scenes.

I’m not sure why this has been brought up so many times in the thread. They never say it’s their own money, they even say it’s a purse. No amount makes these guys uncomfortable if it’s not theirs, that’s all marketing talk.

Sure I'll watch, but the draw is Tiger v Phil. Not the money. I couldn't care less about the pot. Watching two people I have little connection with gamble with their own money, or someone else's money for that matter, doesn't move the needle for me.

$10. $10,000. $10,000,000. Don't really care. It's not my wallet.

But watching Tiger and Phil miked up for 18 holes. That's interesting.

In addition to the winner take all aspect, I think it would be more interesting if they were playing for one Ryder Cup spot- the loser only gets to be an assistant captain.

On what planet?? Tiger draws casual fans into watching the game. You the WRX golf pro who knows everything there is to know about golf may not watch but my 70 year old dad who does not even speak english let alone watch golf will tune in because he likes Tiger Woods.

$10M might be possible, but it is pretty ambitious for a presumably one day exhibition with only 2 players.

The purse for most of the majors and the Players is about $10M (US Open is $12M). Those are real championships, with four days of coverage.

Tiger's own silly season event (also a 4 day tournament) has a $3.5M purse.
