I finally got to hit them today and I really like how they feel. What I didn’t like was how much spin I was getting with the low and the mid. Did anyone else feel like the stock kbs hybrid shaft wasn’t spinny?

I agree. $200 upcharge for an AD-DI is stupid for a $250 sticker driving iron. Tensei blue might be my choice albeit the watered down version

Got to hit all three of these today. All with kbs 80 x graphite, lo and mid in 3 and the hi in 4. Just some quick impressions from a mid capper that I hope can help people who are on the fence!

 

The hi is really fun, it goes the distance I would expect a 4hy to go for my swing, and it had a nice feel off the face even on mishits, which are hard to tell honestly, this club just goes the same distance if you get it on the face. Slight draws with no effort. I'm not a hybrid guy, I try to take left out of my game as much as possible, but this was lots of fun to hit. If you're in the hybrid market for next season, don't pass this up based on look at address.

 

The mid is a great club, allowed me hit a variety of consistently controlled shots, and was about 3-7 yards further than my udi 3 on both turf and tee shots. Felt VERY close off the face to my UDI, just has a larger footprint. I think this club will be a hit for a lot of people. This is the only club of the three I saw some extra distance. Gives enough feedback to tell when and where you mishit, but doesn't kill your hands, and was forgiving distance and direction wise.

 

I wasn't a fan of the way the lo looked versus the performance, if that makes sense. It's very chunky from address for a players club and I don't mind that if I'm gaining some yardage and forgiveness, especially off the turf. I have the og UDI as my 3/4 irons, and the look is very clean and sleek at address for the forgiveness that you get. In the lo, I iust didn't get a wow feeling, and when flushed, it went no further than my UDI. The mishits are punished worse in my opinion than with UDI.

 

Bottom line all three do what they're meant to do, I don't mean to beat up on the lo version, but the og UDI is a tough club to beat. They all go through a window true to their name. The KBS shaft is smooth. Try if unless you're dead set on a certain shaft. If you don't like it the bay is always there.

 

Ps. The finish, is... An odd choice, esp for the price. However I understand tmade was probably following the hi toe formula, i.e. It sticks out in a tour bag!

 

Just my opinions :) If you can get to a big store then go try them! But if not hope this helps.

Even if I liked these (which I don’t), I don’t think I could play them because of the name.

 

I’m a golfer in the summer, and I’m a skier in the winter. In skiing, a gaper is a clueless skier, bumbling around the mountain with no idea what they’re doing or how it impacts anyone else.

 

Playing clubs with GAPR written on them would be like skiing skis with HACKR written on them.

I was surprised by the feel of the mid(only one I tried) maybe it’s the speed foam lol but it felt pretty darn good. I have a 3 hybrid so no use for a 3 iron which is what they had. Went about the same distance as my ping g 3h 200-215, probably a few yards shorter but had a much lower trajectory. Maybe a 2i in the mid would be useful but the 3i just went a bit too low(92-95mph with it)

Just tried one at the PGASS. It was the Lo with the stock x shaft. Got 212mph ball speed with it on the monitor! These are legit!! :lol: But seriously, I like the feel of the 790 and og UDI better but the look at address was nice.

Only took a few swings indoors and in flip flops so not the most thorough experience. It was ok IMO. In X it was tight enough but lacked feel which could be completely from not being warm or it might not have been the right shaft for me. More testing needed.

P790 udi / OG udi in another class, can’t be blown away by any conforming driving iron

Tried the Lo Gapr at GG. Feel was so/so. I liked the look at address but the numbers were nothing spectacular. I see no reason to jump on these if you have a driving iron you like. Not a game changer IMO

Got my hands on a GAPR low 2 with addi 105 from a connection . Man. Really nasty flight. Really fast off the face.

I just bought the darkness 790s and I still wouldn't buy the GAPR just because of that hideous green colour... It would be amazing if a darkness UDI came out, but unlikely...
