@ Chris975D..... 1% higher Moi than the 400, but that 1% is not higher than the Max?? So the upcoming Max still trumps them all. Absurd! Who's gonna really notice 1%?? Thanks for your above reply.

People keep talking about the upcoming MAX.. If Ping is on 18 month marketing cycle, the Max won't be replaced until late in the year.

Hey man, I'm the dude

You missed the boat where I replied to Chris975D. And thanks for reminding everyone for “god only knows how many times” that the Plus IS NOT the MAX. Thank you thank you thank you!

My question is, why would anyone go with the Alta CB over the Tensei orange? The specs look the same on paper and they are the same cost..

Alta will spin and launch higher.

Also more counterbalanced so the head will feel lighter. My guess is the Alta will feel softer too. All about what works in the fitting is why one would choose it over the Orange.

I don't want to try it, or any of the new drivers in case it makes me want to buy one.

Out of the TM / Cally / Cobra / Mizzy / Ping releases, the Ping is the one I like the look of most, then cobra and Mizzy. I ronically the TM ones interest me least even though I'm in M1 at the moment

That said, the G Max didn't work for me particularly.....

Any idea why the 410 also says "plus" on the bottom? Isn't that one the standard model? I know there is an LST and SFT.... Can't you just write nothing like the g400 line?

Plus is the new MAX.

Plus IS NOT the new MAX.

It's at 455g ... what will Ping do? Fit a 480cc driver into a 460 cc body?

If so, I'm interested in that marvel.

Just saw the chart you are referring to and it does say the orange in Reg flex is high launching.

I saw another ping chart yesterday and it showed the Alta as launching higher and feeling softer than the Orange.

FWIW, MSC says the Orange is mid launch and low spin. The Alta is definitely not low spin.

From the several reviews I've seen, the adjustable weights don't do anything.

Sad that Ping have come up with such a pup.

Links ?

Only one I saw move the weight was Crossfield. For mark the heel weight made it draw more. For his buddy the opposite. It actually faded it more with heel weight.

I have to think the Alta is better for slower swing speeds. It is not a bad shaft at all. I have tested it in the past and the X flex was pretty stout. I went with the Ping Tour because it was much better for cutting spin, but the Alta felt fine. The Orange is going to be more helpful at faster ballspeeds.

For those interested, Rick Shiels shows a birds eye view of the flight of the ball with the weight in the draw, neutral, and fade settings. You can find it at the 6 minute mark in his video review.

It's amazingly uniform. Shiels shot shape is a draw, so the fade setting for him is nearly dead straight!

Rick Shiels draws/hooks everything. Crossfield if you freeze the screen on his stats video, the ball went left, straight and right according to the L and R numbers

Dan hit everything to the RIGHT (a great endorsement for draw bias)

Another fella The Average golfer, who I enjoy watching as he's a 9 handicap with various swing flaws, couldn't get the driver to work at all.

Crossfield has a very very repeatable swing but when he comes up with bull about 'tracking' COG and overriding this and that, then it goes over my head as supercilious humbug.

All the reviews I saw say the opposite

Read my post immediately above yours. I've seen 4 or 5 reviews , 2 positive others not. Average golfer not a pro, wasn't impressed, Dan (marks mate) actually hits it further RIGHT in draw setting.

Look at reviews with a blank canvas, hardly rave reviews across the Board as opposed to the F9 for example.

Not what I saw. Finally had a chance to watch golfbox review this morning and in fade it went right and in draw it was really bad. In neutral he hit his normal draw.

Ping put thevweight in the spots where pros and their wrx shop put hotmelt.

I watch the Avg Golfer reviews and like what he does.

The G410 review I thought seemed strange for him. The shot tracer made it look like the balls were on a string. Looked dead straight to me. He didn’t seem happy with the flight. He switched it to draw and they still seemed on a string dead straight. You never got to see where the balls ended up as he was hitting off a hill top.

Normally he’ll walk out to the balls. My feeling is he didn’t “want” to have to use draw weighting which may have lead to his thoughts.

I had the impression he had a bad day, as happens to all of us.

I may be wrong
