I don't think I've ever seen more tape wraps on the first hand (+7LH +5RH) what is the point of that? does he want MORE taper in the grip? odd...

Ok you're right I have never heard of anything like that. That would most certainly increase taper... On another note those are some BIG grips that is above midsize for sure.

I wondered about that. I have never experimented with the wraps under the grip. Would that many wraps make the grip larger than midsize? I read on the Ping site about the players specs and wonder what that equates too.

Take a look at Bubbas, he uses +13 and +11 on his irons and +15 and +13 on his driver

Bubba is left-handed. So his grips are set-up to reduce taper, too.

Quick FYI on The "10 yards" story by switching shafts. That was mis-reported and was only on the driving range during testing. The data our statistician reported to us (from tournament play at the Vegas event compared to the week before when he won with Fujikura at Sanderson) showed lower launch, more spin, no increase in carry. Stay tuned to equipment reports for this week in Sea Island...

Is this your way of saying he's switching back to Fujikura?

Some more of the track man gains I keep telling people about. Rare to see them translate to the course. Jordan spieth just did the same. Reps can put a track man queen in your hand. Be mo careful !!!

More like if you are prone to mishit a driver you should try the 400 Max, it's the best driver I've ever used.

More like if you want a driver that you can make contact anywhere within .75-1” of center and still get 95% of performance(distance and accuracy). Whether you are prone to mishits or not.

BRNR Mini 13.5(@12.5*) 43.25” - Diamana DF 70tx(tipped 1.75”)

I can’t help but think the same. However, give him and Finau any other driver and I’d be thinking the same about that driver too. What is intriguing though, is that all of Ping’s longest hitters are in the Max head.

They hit it long enough already so makes sense to use something with more forgiveness. They don’t need more distance but accuracy instead.

They hit it because you can basically make contact anywhere within 1” of center and still get 95% performance on distance and dispersion.

Golf channel is riding his sack hard wow!!!

As they should. He’s the only reason I actually tuned in today for an hour while college football was on. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

I’m certainly watching tomorrow as well. Normally I wouldn’t give a damn about this off season tourney.

I’ve figured out that I like this guy mostly bc he’s a Nike guy. Game is good but if he was a PXG guy or Titleist, he would have much less appeal to me.

I just looked up Cameron Champ's trackman numbers. Makes me wonder. I have made a concerted effort to dry to hit up more on the driver over the last couple of years. I don't know what my trackman numbers are or were but I suspect I used to hit with some degree of negative attack angle before I started working on it. I have done nothing but struggle with the driver since. Lots of low on the face, too low of a launch drives. Maybe a negative attack angle on the driver isn't so bad afterall. Doesn't it say somewhere that the average pro has a negative attack angle? For the record, no need to tell me I don't have Champ's swing speed or mechanics. I am just relating it to struggles the driver have caused me since really trying to hit on the upswing.

Last I read, the average pro strikes 1.3* DOWN on the ball with a driver. More control can typically be had by striking down at the slight cost of distance.

But Rick Sheils hits up an average of 3* positive AOA with his driver for optimum carry on his GC QUAD and barely misses the tight 50 foot wide fairway. The pros must be doing something wrong.

Rick Sheils really thinks highly of Rick Shiels game.
