Why is everyone so upset with the commentary? There is next to no banter between the two players. Would you prefer we watch in silence? Barkley is the only thing keeping me awake.

 

I would 100% rather watch this in silence than with the current commentators

 

How would we know there's no banter - we haven't had the chance to hear it. At least a half dozen times so far they have had to go back and show replays of either the Tiger-Phil banter or the player-caddie stuff because they were too busy talking when it was going on.

 

Exactly. If there were no commentators and it turned out there really was no banter, then blame squarely lands on tiger and Phil.

Yes.

 

There is nothing wrong with silence. I will sacrifice whatever downside there might be to silence in order to capture the upside of not missing any player/caddie talk. Put somebody in the fairway, such as Feherty to tie the players together a little better and you have a home run.

 

My goodness they have to have replays of what the players are saying because these guys can't control themselves behind the mic.

This thing doesn’t suck because of the commentary, which is fine. It’s bad golf and next to no banter between the players which is literally what all the hype around this event was based on. They went so far as to talk about whether or not their would be profanity used, which Tiger implied was a silly question.
