Well played Rahm. Finau can't close.

Hmm, Stenson and Finau were tied to start the final round.

I guess a "fixed it for you" would be Henrik and Tony can't close?

Tiger DFL... What happened? Loses to Phil, playing like crap now--- did he hurt his back trying to carry Reed during the RC?

Lol, I didn't know Rose had another shot at it in two weeks. Is Brooks playing anything more before New Years? I'm guessing there's some sore of sponsor bonuses for ending the year ranked #1. If so, this must be a bit annoying for Brooks, as Rose's chances must be pretty good carding a top 10 in Indonesia.

It should be "Rahm speaks English well."

I don't even care about that. The comment itself was idiotic.

Interesting stat I just heard regarding OWGR points @ the Hero, Justin Rose got more points for his 3rd yesterday than he'd get for a top 5 @ Augusta. The debate about OWGR points for an 18 man unofficial field could go on for eternity but that Rose example scenario just seems wrong on so many levels.

I'm talking in general.

I will let the rankings do the talking-where is Henrik? We all seem to love Stenson. But his record overall is not awesome. Averages about a win every 30 events on the PGA tour. But then neither is Finau. Tony seems to be on the rise is probably what I was referring to. He seems to be coming into his own.

That ain't right.

Because it's not true. Last four Masters (2015-2018) the WR points that covered 5th place (solo 5th/or with ties) are:

2015 - 24

2016 - 24.66667 (3 way ties for 4th)

2017 - 27 (2 way tie for 4th)

2018 - 19.5 (4 way tie for 5th)

OWGR points awarded at a major are (not including a tie for a position) are:

1st - 100

2nd - 60

3rd - 40

4th - 30

5th - 24

6th - 20

7th - 18

8th - 16

9th - 15

10th - 14

lol @ Stenson not being able to close

Six wins in 188 PGA Tour events. That's almost a dozen full seasons.

Your call, is that a closer? Stenson is a wonderful ball striker and certainly had a great duel with Phil.

Side note... Funny how the rankings work and what the result brings out for posts. We're all guilty of it. Champ wins and all anyone cares about is that none of the top guys were playing. Pretty much all of the top guys were playing the Hero and the win doesn't matter because it was just 18 guys. Personally I think Champs'win was better. My theory, right or wrong, is that on tour these days the winning score will be about the same no matter who in the top 200 or so is playing. The difference is the top 50 are there not often because they are more consistent.

8th - 16

9th - 15

10th - 14

Thanks for posting the numbers, since people were getting worked up about the result without posting them.

Rose won 19.2 ranking points at the Hero. So even with the four way tie at the Masters, he didn't quite win more points.

I don't disagree with the general premise that the Hero awards too many points though. Rahm won 48, which is better then finishing solo 3rd in the Masters this year.

Also, based on my research when trying to find the Masters OGWR points, there are 22 events that award OGWR points that have the word "Masters" in their title. Tied for lowest total points awarded for first place (with 4) are: Ekerum Öland Masters (NGL), The Prem Group Irish Masters (EPT), Nokia Masters (EPT), Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters (EPT), The motocaddy Masters (EPT), Willis Towers Watson Masters, by Egekilde (NGL), Maditer Real Estate masters (NGL). I've gathered the NGL is the Norwegian Golf League, and the EPT may or may not be the Europro Tour, neither of which I've heard of before.

Hmmmm, injured in '17, and enjoying the spoils of an amazing '16, and this year was a washout basically by spring/early summer because of elbow, how is it surprising he isn't top 10? Having said that he was one of the best Euros at the Ryder Cup, which meant one of the best players overall, lol.

You might take a look at his record and what he's gone through to build that resume! Come now, Shilgy.

His wins are pretty much quality wins. Match play with one of its better fields ever, Players Championship, Open Championship, Euro Tour/Race to Dubai multiple, wire to wire at Tour Championship to also win FedEx Cup, WGC. Just saying he "just" has 6 PGA Tour wins is intentionally misleading in terms of the significance of his career.

Guy is awesome, lost his way, found it back, seems to be enjoying life and family outside of golf. Seems to be a good guy and a pro's pro who shines very brightly from time to time and other times can't buy a putt, lol. Does he appear as driven as some, maybe not, but if he's healthy even over 40, he's among the elite of the elite playing the game.

Pretty damn fine career.
