Easier to hit "Player's Irons"?

lets settle the dust here once in for all. i have owned, gambled, built with most of the clubs mentioned here.

Wilsons V4, V6 - best looking irons hands down HOWEVER --->>>WS in general, they are a hit and miss, the head weights could be way off, they simply don't have quality control like other mfg, they are traditional irons, amazing technology in the long and mid irons, tonnes of tungsten, you won't find this type of tungsten from any other mfg at this price because they are spending that money on marketing and "tour presence" - if you want a traditional CB, modest price, astonishing forgiveness, you have to roll the dice on overall set consistency - these are hard to beat

CB/AP2 712 - Current, look great, feel okay. whenever I pickup a Titleist club, it just feels right for some reason. personally, i think they look great but other clubs in the CB category look amazing. an issue i have and always will have with AP2, the hosel length is different within the set, and the short irons look odd to me. ironically though, i love the GW, maybe it has something to do with getting it for free but the GW is awesome. in general, AP2/CBs have the players aura when you see them in the bag.

Srixon 745 - 785. if you like a CB that has a longer blade length than these are hard to beat. very soft, very boring (in a good way). probably best oem for shaft selection without the extra cost. the longer blade lenght even in the 965, is not everyone's cup of tea.

BS J15CB - my crown jewel set, forgiving, super soft, great sole design, 2nd best-looking set, kudos to WS. only issue and this is huge for many players - the offset in the J15 CB is huge. when you set it down, it looks like you are going to hook the hell out of it.

XForged - not much has changed since 2013, can get 2018 for cheap now, much like Titleist they just feel right in your hands.

Mizuno - 900F, 919F - probably my least favorite set of the bunch, i can't stand seeing the back of the club in the long irons, they feel harsh, but i know they perform well. do yourself a favor and go MP.

Ping i200 (haven't tried the 210 yet) - i bought a set, thinking they would be the one to rule them all, play them for a week sold immediately. nuff said

You have so many good options to choose from so my suggestion is to go to a Club Champion or True Spec and hit everything and see what first fits your eye and also gives you the proper performance. If you care I've been rally happy with my z765/965 combo set worth modus 105 stiff hard stepped.l My driver swing speed is 110-115 and my 7i distance is 170. Love the flight and spin that that shaft and head combo gives me.

718 AP2's without question. Forgiving, great feeling and amazing performance.

This.

Anyone whom has hit Endo forging from Bridgestone (J15MB/CB) and Callaway 2013/2018 X-Forged, or Vintage Mizuno Forging will NEVER put AP2s in the same feel category as these irons. AP2s are a great overall player's cb but they are crisp and have some "bite" in their strike. Mizuno's feel "full" and just more solid. But Endo Forging, especially the J15CB are just amazing. Soft feel with great feedback in a very forgiving player's cb... It's really close to being a player's cb/ GI hybrid.

Cult worthy.

I can speak to 716 AP1 vs AP2, as I did both this year.

AP1 - felt hollow on a hit, bigger head gave me more confidence, mishits weren't magically fixed, distance was only increased due to jacked up lofts

AP2 - that forged feel, smaller head wasn't that unforgiving

From my experience (10 index), I shot similar scores with AP1/AP2. Going to the AP2 didn't make me any worse or better, nor did I feel like I had any trouble hitting the center of the face most of the time.

Depending on the "player's iron", it really isn't a huge issue (for me). Going blades/pure muscleback would be a different story.

if you have trouble hitting one version of 'players irons' why are you looking for another?

Try some GI irons like TM790 or PXG 0311

So, if a first marriage to the girl of your dreams does not work out you should try a dude???

Nope.....just because the first pretty face does not work you don't quit trying :-)

Lol this analogy. I think it would be more like he is trying to make it with a girl with big fake parts, or a girl that really really hot.
