Bingo. And I’ll add. If the TW connection didn’t matter. They wouldn’t put TW on the club. That’s the main selling point for the retail customer.

I ordered mine on the day they were released for preorder. I ordered 3-pw with Project X 6.5 shafts and 1.5 degrees flat. They are on the FedEx truck and out for delivery as we speak.

Well said. The thrill of many wishing to own a set of these is a galaxy away from how many will actually be sold. As I've stated before, forgings make up less than eight percent of the market, blades about 20% of that eight percent. The market share for these beauties, and they are beautiful, is so small my calculator says it begins with two zeros.

It probably was a battle royale in the product development meetings for these things. I would have loved to see the discussions.

 

One camp wants to be “authentic” and is gunning for the lofts to be EXACTLY like Tigers specs, which are FAR weaker lofted than any modern clubs and the other camp is pushing for stronger lofts so the vast majority of the golfing public won’t ask why they are so incredibly short hitting.

 

So they compromised and pleased no one and met in the middle. The uninformed masses that hit these will still complain bitterly that they are unbelievably short hitting compared to anything else they try. Every guy working in every pro shop better get ready for endlessly explaining Tigers weak lofts and trying to convince the “average” golfer that being a club and a half shorter than their buddies is just Peachy.

I'm sure there was some healthy discussion, but I'll bet it was a relatively easy decision in the end. Making them with the same lofts as the P730 is the pragmatic choice and makes far more sense than releasing with any other loft (stronger or weaker).
