waiting for some trade-in stuff to go through and will be ordering a combo 659CB/MB set...should be fun, right?

they are really nice clubs, feel good and one of the more attractive cavity backs out there.

I really want to use them but hitting my 0317 blades in the real world is just too appealing for me, especially the extra 2 degrees of launch i get with the Elevate Tours.

eh....I feel bad. Cause the Sub70's are really legit clubs

Tough call those are super nice too. I think you'll be really happy with the Sub70s though.

For me it just came down to the shaft pairing as much as anything

Just bought the 699 Utility Pro v.1 19.5° in satin. Very excited to put this in the bag and swap out my 5 wood. Even with the slight shaft upgrade to the ProjectX HZRDUS RDX Black 90, the whole thing was still only $100.

I've always thought about the TA iii irons.  They look good and sound like they have some good tech in them.  Its hard to find reviews other than 1 or 2 and a few comments here and there.  All that I have seen have been pretty positive.

I was cleaning up both sets of my v1 699's today.  Identical sets 5-P,A, but one has stiff shafts and the other has regular flex.

My regular 5i struck me as looking thinner on the sole for some reason.  Compared a bit side by side to the stiff 5i.  Do they look different to you as well or is it me?  Like, one has a more rounded toe and the other a bit more pointy.  I do not own a 699 Pro to compare, but I'm almost wondering, is one of them mis-marked?

Has there been any additional feedback on the TAiii wedges? Was thinking of picking up a set but at $150 a pop plus tax it’s right up there with the big boys…

I cannot speak to their wedges, but their irons are made from a softer steel that mars easier. My Sub70 forged irons had more markings after 30 rounds than my Srixon 965's had after 50.

That being said, their wedges have a nice feel and spin well and are a little on the heavier side, which I like. I don't think you'll notice much difference aside from saving the $30 from the SM9 (which it really feels like).

It's a joke based on mars - impairs the appearance and Mars - 4th planet, follows Earth.  Venus is the preceding planet.

I found it astronomically humorous.

So, I shouldn't be posting under the night sky? I'm not in the right headspace for a good joke.

Now, do I change it in shame or let it ride?

Anyone still using the 949x Hybrid?  Saw it's impressive results in the Most Wanted 22, and then again in Today's Golfer 23.

Never had a Sub70 club, just curious if they ended up sticking around in your bag?

Distance isn't top priority or I'd look at the Stealth, but accuracy and forgiveness are.  Sub70, Ping G430, and Tour Edge X722 seem to be the top 3 for that category no matter where you look\read\watch.

I don't see any 949x on the BST, so I'm assuming that's a pretty good indicator.  Just thought I'd check in for any feedback, for longevity of how this club has stood the rest of time.

Thanks.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just got the last version of the 699 pro utility in 22* with a Steelfiber 95.  Finally got it to the range today and was VERY impressed.  Didn't know for sure about the look, but a bunch of shots that all went left to right was quickly all I needed to see to fall in love with the club.

I might honestly be looking at the hybrids and fairways after how impressed I was with the driving iron.  Plus with the $45 upgraded shaft it was $130...

TBD - G430 Max 15* - 818 H2 19*- Sub 70 Pro 23* - i525 6-U - SM9 54* / 58* / 62*  - F22

I have the hybrid and fairway wood. Both are excellent clubs. If you’re interested their demo program is very easy to use.
