Tour issued Callaway Apex Pro 19' "Dot" Iron Pics and differences (comparison Pics added Page 3)

I asked Callaway through their "Callaway Community" forum if the Dots were available to be ordered with the satin finish and Callaway quickly answered that Dots were NOT available in satin.

That said, I suspect there is a way to get them in a satin finish but perhaps not for a "regular guy" going through normal Callaway channels.

I finally got to take some swings with my Dots tonight after dealing with a hand injury. It has been driving me nuts seeing these in my garage for the last week and a half and not being able to hit them. I just took the wedge out and hit some balls down the fairway but the feel is really soft and the trajectory and distance control were outstanding.

They are definitely softer than my 718 CB's were. I was a bit worried that the Project X LZ's would spin too much and launch too high but I liked what I saw. I cant wait to attack some pins in my Thursday night league.

The urge to try was real! I must say I am glad I did. Upon arrival the DOT’s to my eye are what they stated, less offset smaller head size, and much better feel and sound compared to the Non-Dots. Mine arrived yesterday so only was able to get a evening range session in with them, but wow! I am a long time TM bag player, but I really think Callaway got these irons right! Only thing I noticed with mine, the “ 19 • “ on the hozel is in white and not black like all I have seen. Not sure if these were customized form someone but doesn’t matter to me.

White would be Up 2 on the lie angle.

I got my first 9 in tonight and these irons feel incredible. I played to my handicap so no improvements in scoring but the feel is orgasmic. Not bad for taking them out for the first round with no practice time other than a few swings with the wedge. I am definitely pleased with the switch.

Distance is in line with my previous 718 CB's (same lofts) and the reduced offset and lie definitely tamed the hook. I already can't wait for the my next round.

I decided to order an Apex Pro Dot 7 iron to test it out before pulling the trigger. I currently game the X Forged irons and love the soft feel, and was skeptical on how the Dots would feel. The regular 2019 Apex Pro irons felt very clicky to me, but the Dots feel much softer and similar to x forged feel. I am definitely impressed. The Dot 7 iron appears to have less offset than my x forged 7 iron, which may be the deciding factor. The apex pro Dots should have been the only apex pro iron that was released, as they feel sooo much better.

I think you may be correct on that. I can’t order them through the vip site either. I just ordered a 7 iron to test last week, you think they would have mentioned something. I am going to reach out today to try and find out.

I love my DOT’s! I hit my 7i side by side with a non-dot this past weekend. I took 10 swings with each. Surprisingly I lost only 3.2 yards average in distance, picked up nearly 2 yards in height, and the DOT felt noticeably softer. My biggest take away though was how much smaller the DOT looked at address. To my eye DOT’s had much more of a players profile with noticeably less offset. My time with both was brief but I swear the regular pro’s had a squarer toe though which is something I tend to prefer. Overall though I am thankful that I got a set of DOT’s while I could because they perform superbly. Only time and more course time will tell if they will become a a permanent fixture in my bag but for now they aren't going anywhere.

3.2 seems about right with the Apex pro being 1 degree stronger in loft. Everything you noticed is exactly what Callaway was trying to achieve with the dots. I feel fortunate to have a set.

@JStang what has your experience been with the DOT’s? I am just curious what others are experiencing with regards to distance and forgiveness versus the regular Apex pros.

I only have 9 holes under my belt and haven't been practicing as I have been trying to get over a hand/wrist injury but they certainly pass the looks and feel test. I hit one really thin shot on my first iron swing of the day where I stood up prior to impact and it was dreadful. It might have got 8 feet off the ground. Other than that I thought they were great. I didn't hit anything longer than a 6 iron and both of those shots were off the tee. One found the green and the other was in the fairway on a short par 4. I will play again on Thursday night and try to provide some more feedback after the round.

They are not forgiving on thin misses. If you watch one of the TXG iron fittings done with Matt, they mention that about the Apex Pro. I have definitely found this to be true in my own experience with the Dots.

The DOT's are in my bag after some testing. It has been hard to get anything TM out of my bag for a while but these DOT's just are great. To my eye the same maybe touch less offset than my 750's and more forgiving. Cally 100% got the DOT's right!

I got another 9 holes in last night and am really impressed with these irons. Our league is from a set of tees that plays from 6500 yards so I haven't had a chance to hit anything more than a 6 iron which was on a 185 yard par 3 and once off the tee on a short par 4. This distance on this course gives me a pretty steady diet of wedges into greens. I haven't truly gotten to put these through the paces yet but zero complaints so far.

I had them (see like 4 pages ago) but sold them to keep my regular apex pros. I couldn't get past the leading edge, which for some reason looked almost like it was onset because of (to my eye) the rounded edge. Sort of like the leading edge of the MD4 wedges (which I really find off putting). I keep toying with the idea of getting the apex MB to put into the short irons, but I'm not sure what advantage I would have over the regular non-cup face apex pros for say 6 or 7-PW.

But the dots definitely felt softer than the pros. 100% true.

I would think this would be a no-brainer considering the design.
