Matt Kuchar was 100% right in that embedded ball argument

I'll update with video when I find it, but if you are watching The Memorial, you know what I'm talking about.

If you watch the replays they showed, Kuchar's ball lands, pops straight up and rolls back into its own pitch mark. There was no need to make an argument that the hop produced a second pitch mark - the pitch mark it was in was his own.

Whoever the TV guy was (Immelman?) incorrectly said that the ball landed and then rolled up. I don't know how the rules official could watch the video and then determine it was not his pitch mark when there wasn't another pitch mark within 4-5 feet of his ball.

 

People are crucifying Kuchar for this and it's undeserved.

Wrong and Kuchar was not even claiming that himself he said his ball made the mark on the second bounce. I was willing to give him a pass on the caddie incident because I always liked him but that whole display was pathetic.

Just saw it again on GC and again, no way it ended up in its own pitch mark.

His ball bounced, ran forward and slightly to the right and into the pitch mark, not even Matt was claiming it was his pitch mark so not sure why you are so sure ?! ?

 

He was a bit cheeky asking for the original ruling but then asking for a second opinion and still not being happy was a fairly embarrassing look to be fair..

What I saw....and would explain how the ball ended up in his pitch mark.....his drive

landed into forward edge of an existing pitch mark , hopped up and forward , then

rolled back into HIS pitch mark. The ball came to rest in his pitch mark , how it ended

up there and whether it is embedded or not I can see his point......He did'nt argue it

properly , he made it sound like the the hop made /was the cause of the secondary mark.

The ball did not roll forward past where it originally landed. It popped straight up, maybe back a foot, then rolled back forward into the original pitch mark. There are no other marks near the ball and the only one who said it rolled forward several feet was Immelmann, and after watching the video it was clear he was wrong.

Here's the video, again I don't see how anyone thinks it ended up in the original pitch mark. IMO it's clearly gone forward and to the right a bit after initial impact but it's not the clearest video. First replay is at 1:40.
