Fast forward to today and it appears the 2019 Masters may be equivalent to Jacks 1986 Masters. Kind of the last hurrah. Although Jack did contend in a couple more majors he never won again on the PGA. Tiger today in his post round interview gave a hint the back isn’t doing great saying with all the procedures he has had there are many shots he can no longer hit. First time he has confirmed what has been obvious since April.. now you wonder if he will tie Snead let alone Nicklaus. Hope his body tells him when to stop so he doesn’t need another procedure on his back..

He doesn't have to confirm that he is a 43year old, broken man, it's well documented. Tiger is never going to win every 1 of every 7 tournaments he enters again. There is only 1 winner every week, probably takes a lot out of you for the older you guys. With the schedule the way it is, he is only playing the big tournaments with the best of the best. He isn't playing the, with all due respect, the 'off weeks'

It was high 50s, low 60s, windy and raining during his round. That cold will affect a broken body, now add in the lack of prep and where he sprayed his tee shots. He put himself in some extreme angulated spots today on his back and knees. And in those spots, took some big hacks to get through the fescue. THOSE are the shots he cannot pull off anymore when it's just about every hole. That'll take a toll on anyone out there today.

Pro golf is more than just nine weeks every two years.

Would love to see Westwood finally get it done. I just don’t trust that putter or decision making on Sunday. He would need a big lead and it’s unlikely

Duval earned the spot by being a former champ. He’s not taking anyone’s spot away. Kaymer didn’t earn his way in.

Put aside his age and body, any pro with the little amount of prep Tiger did would shoot the same score. He can blame his neck etc, It's as simple as that.

You spelled “open” both times with a lower case “o”. Was that an accident?

Everything is perfect this week. Now the only thing left is to get a quality champion. I always believed that the great courses identify the great winners but after being proven wrong again and again I can only hope that a wonderful course like this produces a quality champion. This was the case at Pebble until the last 2 US Opens. I played Portrush and Royal County Down on 2 occasions and felt they were the 2 finest courses I had ever played. I don’t think Royal County Down sets up as well for a modern pro golf tournament but there are not 2 finer courses anywhere( Pebble and Cypress are right there) Looking for Koepka or Rahm to bring home the trophy.

You think the Players Championship is meaningless?

Sure it is, but I’m not talking about pro golf

I think the main problem with Tiger is that he can't play in cold weather anymore.

“In tournaments in which the average midpoint of the daytime temperature range has been 75 degrees or above, Woods has two wins, including at the Masters in April, and an average finish of sixth place. During that span, not once in such conditions has he finished outside the top 25.

When the weather is neither cool nor hot, the same can often be said of Woods. Between 65 and 74 degrees, he has posted an average finish of 24th place, with one missed cut.

When the extra clothing layers come out, his scores tend to go up. In average temperatures below 65 degrees since the start of 2017, Woods has an average finish of 46th place, with three missed cuts. That’s not counting the 2018 Ryder Cup, when Woods lost all four matches for the U.S. on a 56-degree weekend in France.”

Totally, it’s the biggest regular event, nothing more and nothing less.

I actually think the value of majors is inflated and the value of a regular victory is deflated. So for me when tiger eclipses Snead, that will be bigger than Jack's majors. But I get that I'm in the minority. I just don't think winning on the PGA tour is ever easy.

I think the player that beats this field, on a challenging course like Portrush, will be a quality champion. Unless of course you meant a 'name' player instead?

Certainly doesn't sound good.

I'm curious as to what he will do with his time when he hangs it up. I don't see him announcing.
