Had I known I was going to shorten mine and go to MOI gaps I would have gone with 6.0 knowing what I know now. I was in between and went 6.5 in case they played soft. They do not play soft. They are a very stable shaft. I’m happy with them, don’t take that wrong just pointing out the 6.0 is probably plenty of shaft for those in between flexes

I agree. I went 6.5 and they are fine but 6.0 may have been a more proper flex for me. I may buy a 6.0 and shaft one of my irons to see. Part of it, I’m just curious cause 6.0 and 6.5 are same weight and same torque.

I noticed that too. Same weight in different flexes. Don’t see that often. I ordered two wedge shafts in 6.0. I’m debating putting them in my 50 and 54. I have modus 120 shafts in them now so the weight wouldn’t be a huge difference. They are probably 108-110 cut. For me, lighter shaft weight has really helped my thumb and wrist. Plus the graphite too.

I put the 6.0 in my 50 and 54 degree Cleveland RTX4 wedges. They feel really good so far. Haven’t done the 58 yet but am seriously considering it. I added 4 grams to the heads the 54 is at 302 grams and the 50 is at 300. 1/8” difference in length.

I had Recoil Prototype 110 F5 and Steelfiber 95 Stiff in the past. Also played X100, X100 AMT, Nippon 105x, Nippon 120x, Nippon 1150, Project X 6.5, Project X 6.0, Project X LZ 6.0, KBS C Taper Lite X.

These Catalyst are the best I’ve hit. Best feel and weight balance. Deadly accurate. Think I can finally stop searching.....for now :)

I played Steelfiber 110x and 125x, I liked them but didn’t love them. The ball flight was ok and the feel was different but not muted which I liked. I played Recoil 125 F5 prototypes but tried 110 F5 and the regular 125 F5. The ball flight was higher for me in these and the feedback was pretty muted which I never got used to. I’ve tried darn near every shaft out there and all I can say is the Catalyst checks all the boxes for me. Not only do they feel very stable with great feedback, the ball flight is ridiculously good.

I can’t explain what I feel with the balance of this shaft. Graphite’s...and there are some real good ones out there. They have all felt a bit off in some way to me but granted I’ve used 125-130 gram shafts forever. With the catalyst it feels balanced more like steel. The head weight is there and it doesn’t feel overly light or heavy in any part of the club. When I swing them it doesn’t feel like a 100 gram graphite shaft and at impact it feels like a hammer, nice and solid with great feedback of contact. Never had that in graphite before.

Question on stiffness of the Catalyst. I am a slower swinger and need FCM 5.5 flex (Rifle 5.5 or PX 5.0). Is a 6.0 in Catalyst a 6.0 like PX or 6.0 like Rifle?

Trying to figure out if I can get to my flex these without soft stepping like 3 times.

Some people prefer to go a bit heavier in the wedges (I'm one who uses a different 100 gm shaft in the irons, and the 110 recoils in the wedges). But there are plenty of other's who prefer to keep the weight the same. Everyone really has to find out for themselves what will work best for them.

Thanks, Stuart. I tend to go a bit heavier in the wedges, but I am curious if anyone has played the Catalyst 100 in their wedges. I also must admit that with how solid/stiff/"steel like" the Catalyst 100s are, I worry a bit more about moving to a different shaft in the wedges. In the past, I have just moved from Recoil 780ES in irons to Recoil 95 in wedges, where the difference in feel/flight is minimal. Given that I don't have the option of doing that in the Catalysts, I am more interested than usual if anyone has played the Catalysts all the way up through their wedges. Hopefully that expounds on my question enough to clarify the reasoning for my question beyond just "tell me what I should do," which is not my intention. As always, I appreciate any feedback I get.

Anyone have a good source for these? Interested in trying, but my usual shaft-source (Golfworks) doesn't seem to stock them. I've found a few on eBay, but always leery about buying shafts there, although they seem to be from reputable sellers.

I reached out to Golfworks and they are able to special order the Catalyst 100, but they are required to install them per the PFC code. They charge $75 per shaft plus $19.95 for installation. I would go the eBay route for $45 per shaft from a reputable seller. I’ve ordered many sets of shafts from eBay with zero issues.

Thanks for the info. I was going to reach out to them myself, but this saves me that task! $75 per seems high, considering they're selling the Catalyst 60 .370 parallel for $42. Plus I like to do my own club work, so guess it's off to eBay to get some to start my winter project.

I've also bought my share of shafts from eBay, just prefer not to when there's another "reasonable" option, but won't be dong that at a $210 upcharge on 4-W set.

I'm kind of where you're at. I have used X-100's or rifle 7.0's since I was in HS. 7.0 is too stiff for me these days. Ball speed was a lot higher than now. I'm tall, all of my clubs are 1.5" longer than standard. You think 6.5's will still play at a 6.5 with the added length?

I’m 29 just got these shafts on apex pros my buddy’s are Insane. They making fun of me. But when I hit my 6 205 15 ft from flag and sink birdie idk why. My swing speed I’m sure is slow and my power comes from me legs I’m sure. But they say I will outgrow these shafts. Had rogue and came with steel shafts that weigh more the the graphite.

Nice review. I came across these shafts accidentally while looking for graphite shafts for my wedges.

I have the Catalyst 100 in the 6.0 flex in 3 of my wedges. These shafts are AWESOME, feelwise and weight wise. No problem controlling them and hitting all types of shots with them, chips, pitches. What I like is that I can really work on the mats now without ever worrying about the tennis elbow aggravation 👍

@mogc60 Really curious about these as I'm trying to move to something lighter (but not weaker) coming from a long time playing X100/X7/6.5/7.0 and tons of other shafts.

Have you tried the MMT 105TX shafts in comparison to these Catalyst 100's? Both are offered from Callaway as free options and I'm considering them as graphite alternatives to maybe going with DG 120 or something.

Depends on swingweight. If  1.5 longer and E1 would play same.if 1.5 longer and D2 would play nearly to 7.5

I put them in a couple weeks ago. Played about 5 rounds with them.

I hit them about a half club longer which is nice because its got me back to the yardage I had my clubs built for, so don't have to worry about bending this and that. I hit these a little bit higher, which was desired. Glad I made the move.

I’m having quite a testing showdown between the Catalyst 80 and 100 versus the MMT 95. I think I could play either. But after 2 sessions, I have to say the Catalysts are so surprising. Very nice shafts. Even the 80 in 6.0 is quite stable.

The MMT is getting most of the hype and it’s warranted because it is really good but I don’t think it is any better than the Catalyst. The fitter who set me up in the hitting bay said the Catalyst is a shaft that a lot of players are going to because once they try them, they like them.

I still have the Catalyst in my irons and all my wedges and have no intention of switching. It’s the perfect shaft for me and I even bought a backup set of shafts to keep around for a later time if I need them. My initial review has just been reinforced over the past 1.5 years and I continue to be impressed with how consistent this shaft is. Being someone who played 125 gram X shafts for 25-30 years I really expected these to be too light and not work for me, but they are the best shaft I’ve ever used.

I have a set of the Project X 100 (3-PW)catalyst in 6.5, just sitting in my shop all sad looking at me every time I walk in.  They are good, probably my second favorite graphite shafts, which would rank them about 4th or 5th overall for me.

In the end I settled on the Recoil standard 110 in F5 and no stepping.

I know the MMT is getting all the graphite love for irons currently, but in the little bit of testing I did with the 105 and 125 TX I just wasn't awed, I thought the Recoils were better and the Catalyst were equal overall but for different reasons.

Appreciate all your detailed and longterm reviews. These were not even on my radar. Now they are going in the bag. Catalyst 100 6.0 in an Apex Pro/X Forged CB combo. The Catalyst got a lengthy tryout against other quality graphites and while I liked the MMT too, I found myself liking the Catalyst more. It really is a Project X profile that is a little friendlier than Rifles. And at 100 grams, it has the stability of a shaft 20 grams heavier. Whatever ISO-6 technology is, True Temper should stick with and even expand this lineup. It’s a winner.

I’m happy to hear my review was helpful to you and others. When I tried the Catalyst there was very little info on it but I was so impressed with the shaft. Every thing you say is what I felt too. I mentioned in my review I didn’t know the tip technology either but there is definitely something to it. The stability and balance is what I noticed first and still love about this shaft. I used several graphite iron shafts before this but none checked all the boxes for me like the Catalyst has.
